Sadly, he may be the Keith Richards of his time. Minus any musical talent whatsoever....

That awful band he was in...Libertines?... I nearly smashed the radio up when they came on once. Awful, whiny voiced indie nonsense which sounded to me like they had bought their instruments two weeks before and recorded it in a friends garage. I can't see anyone actually hearing dross like this and liking it.
You can guarrantee that people that like these kind of bands read the music press and buy whatever is trendy. They read about and make their mind up before they hear.
People may laugh, but I should imagine that there are a lot of unplayed Libertines CD's knocking around in floppy-fringed students CD collections, whereas my Barry Manilow albums will be played till kingdom come.

Agree with you completely there Freddy, he is an average at best guitarist, with a c*** (not the best) voice.

Swill.

I agree too, an awful band who think they are the clash!

....and That they certainly aren't

There was a time where one had to earn the right to indulge in rock n roll excess.
Now all you need is liberal middle class parents and the ability to string a sentence together....and even that is becoming optional

I agree that the guy should be locked up, but, having seen the band in their very early days in front of less than 100 people in a very intimate gig, I have to admit that it was something special. No they weren't the best musicians, or vocalists, but there was a spark of something special.
Unfortunately, I also saw his terrible new band babyshambles at one of their most notorious gigs that ended up getting thrown out and being finished on top of a van! It got to the point where people had started going just so it could kick off and be be able to say 'I was there'. The music was secondary to being there.
Its a waste really, because they genuinely had the word at their feet, and he p****d it all up the wall for his next hit.

Next hit? These idiots barely scrape the top 40!

Gary Glitter may be a nonce, but at least he has some musical talent.

That's debatable! The musical talent not the nonce bit

i find even worse than Pete docherty is that Danny Tourette Guy from 'The Towers of London'.
For anyone luckily unfamiliar this is the guy who went on Clebrity Big Brother and climbed out after 2 days. He then went on to claim in a documentry that he was a genius and that his band were more influential than the Sex Pistols and capped it off by behaving like a tit on 'Never Mind the Buzzcocks' where being a rock n roll rebel lit a cigarette in the studio.....a real life cigarette!
All this without ever having a single hit.

What a complete tool

if ever you see a single by Paul Raven..buy it, it well, it used to be worth a fair few quid..as that was the name the glitter took before he got famous...

its rubbish, but worth money...

Towers of London... grrr... more worthless fly-by-night goons.

I also find Preston from the (very) Ordinary Boys incredibly punchable.
A spoilt little rich kid who thinks he's a 'geezer'. Those squinty little eyes.

Little runt.

I used the term 'hit' in reference to his drug taking, and how it ruined what could have been a very succesful band. Like them or not, if you followed the music press during that time, they were becoming very popular and their last album went to No. 1.
I have seen his other band Babyshambles, and they are just that, a shambles. People only go to see them to either kick off and trash the place, or because they think it makes them cool, or to see him f**k up again. The press should just ignore him and not give him the attention he craves.

I know what you meant, I was trying to imply that the only hits he can acheive are the ones in his arm.

Without the publicity his antics nspire, he would already be forgotten.
He has no talent.

I like Towers Of London. I agree, they're all tools...but so are most musicians...

Waiting for somebody to have a go at me for calling them musicians.
