Larry Jennings Snap Double

Postby kitaristi0 » Aug 5th, '07, 09:27

I learned this double from Daryl's Encyclopedia and have been using it lately. I like the move but I'm a bit concerned because it doesn't seem very natural. I was just wondering whether there is someone who uses the LJ double as their default DL and whether you use the same mechanics for a single lift?

Hi Kitaristi.
I know what you mean.
If I watch Daryl doing this, it's fine. The 'get ready' goes unnoticed. And since this happens before the move, the SL and DL are identical at the point of turnover. It's all seemless and perfectly natural, so obviously it can be done.

But I have the same problem that you do. There is something specifically wrong with mine: I can never manage to th*** c**** without curling my index finger underneath. Of course my SL and DL have to be identical, so doing this means that I have to copy the curly finger bit when doing a SL. Not good. It's certainly not good enough to use yet and I'm going to have to work on this part. If I master this bit though, it should be fine.

What part is causing the problem?
Is there a specific part of the move that's making it look unnatural?
