Thank you for the plug!

I'm pleased that the guide is helping you along.

As everyone is suggesting above, get yourself a copy of Bobo, which will offer you a life time's worth of useful information and a book that you will refer back to for forever. As Neyak suggests, the study guide that is posted at the top of this section (with the "stickies") will give you a good way to approach the book, because it really is a massive information overload.
Stay away from the internet hype of the coin tricks that are out there, most of which are simply based on Bobo to begin with. Also, stay away from gaffed coins at this time. Down the line, once you've got a good foundation for working with coins, you'll find that those gaffes can be a great help to you in making your magic inexplicable and miraculous...But, if you try to use them before you've given yourself a firm grounding into coin work, they will come across as more of a puzzle than magic.
Further, use the search function for this site and look up practice, rehearsal and scripting. Making a coin disappear is fine and well and good, but without practice, rehearsal and scripting, you'll be showing your audience a puzzle, not magic. Keep in mind that magic happens in your spectators mind and not at the point of the silly, little trick that you show them. As Doc Eason says, "They won't remember what you did, they'll remember how you made them feel."
If they feel that you've "tricked" them, then you've lost. If they feel that you entertained them, made them feel good about themselves and had taken them away from their day to day monotony, then you've won. Never forget, people like to be fooled, but they do
NOT like to be made fool of...
Best wishes on your journey in magic.
Mike.
