I think that the best force is a casual force like Wayne H used in stigmata

Theres the classic force, most people love this force. Once perfected, its a killer force.

The riffle force
The Double cut force
and my special force

Those are the three I use the most.

The one where they think they've chosen the card randomly.

The artist who does not rise, descends.

Wayne who?

The best forces are the ones which fulful the criteria of a force:

1. Invisible to the spectator(s) who are to assume a card is being taken at random

2. Ability to be performed with a level of competency by the performer to facilitate criteria (1) above

3. Usefulness, practicality and absorption into the particular effect being used

Therefore, the 'best card force' is a totally subjective question, answerable in many ways and many truths. Ergo, there's not one single (or multiple) correct answers to your question.

Perhaps if your question had been phrased
What is YOUR favourite card force?
then it would have been a lot easy to answer.

In that case, my answer would certainly be a force facilitated by a one-way deck. Sure, it's not the most practical, and not the cleaneste—but it's definately the one which provides maximum satisfaction for my mischeivous mind.

Oh, and it's absolutely foolproof.

Excellent post, seige.

Not only does it depend on the performer, it also depends upon the circumstances and the effect. There's nothing wrong with using a one-way deck, but obviously it must be switched in, out, or both, if you wish to do other tricks with a regular deck.

In fact, that reminds me that I keep meaning to buy a couple of one-way decks.

The best card force is the one that YOU can do smoothly, have rehearsed properly and make look so natural they think they have a free choice.
I use many forces but only the ones I am most comfortable using I will use the most, the rest are there if I need to do another effect requiring a force and want to change the principle.
Backslip, classic, riffle and hindu forces are the ones I favour.

You mean you don't really let them choose a card at random

As with some above, I have a few favourites that I like to use and vary as required.

Riffle, bottom steal and a top card force demonstrated by Jay Sankey (can't remember who he credited it to) are my three favourites.

i agree, there is no best. It all depends on the nature of the effect, the experience and skill level of the peformer and so on.

Excellent, though I hope 1 & 2 are absolute.

My thoughts on 3.. I like to choose a force that is fitting with what I have done immediately before the force, and what I do after.

For example, in a very simple 'three pile' trick that I like, the riffle force is ideal since it facilitates the cutting of the cards that happens just after. This is very natural and goes with the flow of the trick. The classic force would be impractical.

For a quick impromptu trick the I think the classic force is perfect. If it works (I'm not very good at it  ), it gives me time to think about where I can go next. Again, horses for courses.

And, needless to say, repeating a force can be as bad as repeating a trick.

I am a fan of the cull force personally (kinda obsessed with culling right now, just finished watching Cullfather and can't stop practicing.)
