Has anyone ever bought from Bob Cassidy's website?

Postby pcwells » Sep 3rd, '07, 16:21

Hi all,

Last week, I bought a few items from Bob Cassidy's website. All of them (I think) were ebooks, and shouldn't be subject to the delays of international postage.

But so far, aside from the PayPal confirmation that my money is now Bob's, I've received nothing - no order confirmation, no product, absolutely zip.

I emailed at the end of the week to ask what the situation was, and have so far had no response.

Has anybody here had positive experiences of buying directly from Mr Cassidy?

Cheers,

Pete

If they're eBooks, perhaps he's sent them mentally?

(ahem)...

It sounds pretty fishy to me. The nice thing with PayPal is there's a dispute system. If you log in, file a dispute, you can at least give Cassidy's processing a kick-start, as he'll receive a dispute notification.

The knock-on of this is you either get noticed quicker and get your goods, OR you get a refund for non-delivery/non-contact.

From what I've heard previously, buying from Cassidy direct is like playing the National Lottery.

The common consensus is this:

NEVER BUY DIRECTLY FROM BOB CASSIDY.

His ideas are great, but it has to be said loudly that deliveries are sometimes months late if they ever arrive at all - even ebooks. He doesn't answer emails. A lot of people are very seriously upset with Mr Cassidy.

I'm serious. There are threads all over the place about this guy. As I say, his ideas are great, but buy his stuff only from outlets selling his stuff - never directly.

EDIT: If you're buying over PayPal you have the dispute procedure to fall back on, like Seige says.

Here we go again! :D This happened to me also. In the end I had to raise a complaint with PayPal before I got my ebook sent through to me.

There will be those on here who will jump to his defence saying he's a very busy talented guy, worth waiting for etc., but others like myself think he should just get his sh*t together. You're far better getting his stuff from Lybrary www.lybrary.com - you get the link immediately.

My advice - complain to PayPal.

Okay, I've opened a dispute through PayPal.

Time to go and sulk. :(

Only last week? :)

Try last year...

Bob's service is very erratic, and often for no apparent reason. As has been said, there really shouldn't be big deal with e-books.

Some things have been sent to me by return, while I am still waiting for others, which were pre-ordered, or which required physical items to be sent.

Bob does sometimes give bonus downloads as compensation for delays, so he's not all bad. Overall, though, the service is really not up to scratch.

A few weeks back, he was offering to sell something I had wanted for some time, and which is quite rare. I was poised to order it, then stopped myself; I fully expected not to see the blessed thing any time this year. It just wasn't worth the risk.

Okay, opening a dispute in PayPal got some results - in the form of a friendly email from Mr Cassidy. I received one of the ebooks I'd ordered, along with a couple more to compensate me for the delay. Another of the ebooks is having finishing touches put to it, and the third item was a physical product which is - I'm assured - being posted out tomorrow.

Fingers crossed and breath baited...

Pete

Just make sure that you keep the dispute open until you get all your items. Paypal are b******s for sticking to the 'policy' even if it is blatently obvious that you have been stitched up.
