Read this article and you will find that the power of each console actually works out to have virtually equal, also the 360's 3 cores which have 48 tracks (instead of the ps3's which only have 24,) thus making them twice as effective, all run in parallel which means the game programming is easier and stable than that of the PS3's.

Thats not including the Wii, becuase everyone knows its no-where near as powerful as the PS3 or 360!

Also the blue ray sales are falling behind that of the HD-DVD's, also if you read this article you can see that there is very little between them, and neither one is predominately better http://hdtvmagazine.com/articles/2006/0 ... _blu-r.php

The PS3 is horrendously overpriced though

Personally, I think my Sinclair ZX Spectrum 128k +2 knocks all those consoles into a cocked hat...

I have always been really into gaming, but I don't really have definitive reasons why I'd go for the PS3 over the Xbox. I'd leave the Wii out because it seems slightly gimmicky and not suited to a more serious gamer. It looks like the sort of thing that you'd play with mates after a few beers, not the sort of thing you'd play GTA4 on when it comes out.... As for the PS3 and Xbox, they are both visually pleasing. The thing that swung it for me I suppose is simply that I have always been a playstation man. Had the original Playstation in 1998 (I think). Bought the PS2 in the early millennium and loved them both, so it was only natural that I upgrade to the PS3 sooner or later. There are however a few little things that I love about the PS3 (my 60GB version) that is different from the Xbox:

In-built hard drive
Wireless controllers as standard
Free online features ( I've heard that they're not brilliant, but if you're only going to use them to play online then it should be fine)
Blu-ray player
sleek appearance
Less faults than the Xbox (four Xbox users in my form have sent theirs back last week because of faults)

Obviously, the price tag is pretty hefty, but if you can look beyond that (preferably once you've bought it) you'll see a pretty beautiful bit of kit. There's hardly anything between this and the Xbox 360, but I will alwways be a playstation man.... and I won't be convinced otherwise :D :D

I don't see why people should have to look past the price tag. I have played both systems, and while I have no problem shelling out the cash for a ps3, I think a side-by-side comparison of games of both consoles shows minimal differences, far too minute to justify the jump in price. As a result, that's exactly why the 360 outsold the ps3 during the last holiday season. Granted, things are beginning to balance out, but Sony did take a hit for making it so expensive. Not only did they take a hit - they came out of the holiday sales in THIRD. Even the wii beat them.

As for faults - don't count your ps3 as flawless just yet. There's a legion of ps2 owners who can speak, at great length, of the problems with their systems once year 2 came around.

What it really comes down to, is what games you like. Given that most of the biggest selling franchises (except the marquee players) are available across both (or all three), then the choice really comes down to how much you're willing to pay.

Personally, I've never had a problem with wired controllers. Of course, that does not include my original guitar from Guitar Hero - which does not allow me to strut around my living room like Angus Young. Thanks to the wonders of wireless technology, I can now rock all over the place.

None of the three consoles in question have wired controllers, this is not a reason for choosing between them... all three are wireless.

The 360 have hard drives which come with the premium, which costs a lot less than the basic PS3.
Again the 360 has wireless controls as standard with the premium.
HD-DVD's are out selling blu-rays
The PS3 is basically a radiator, its massive!
The first batch of PS3 had to be recalled due to compatibility problems, and it was blocking users games after one use. - PS3 are prone to more faults.
+ If you look at graphics comparisions you'll find the the 360 produces richer, truer colors, and are a lot sharper.
Also the 360 has a better, more stable and reliable graphical processors, GPU's, and the 3 main cores which are twice as fast as the PS3's all run in parallel ect.

So it looks like we have a split vote between the PS3 and the Xbox 360. Probably the most fair result. I didn't actually realize some of the features that the premium 360 had that were like the PS3. O well, I'm still not gonna sell my PS3 just yet though...

I think it should be between the 360 and wii instead of ps3 because the wii outsold more units last christmas (that might have been because the demand for it was higher than shops could supply and they took more pre orders than they could handle therefore disappointing many) than the ps3 and sony lost money on it because they got greedy and demanded too much for it and so people were put off by the price, now its gone down I think more people will get one but it has to sell a lot to make up, the wii is the best selling next gen console out of the 3 with 9.0 million being sold to the 8.9 million xbox 360 and 3.7 million ps3 consoles
