Thanks guys, but oh drat is it an expensive little publication! ...Well worth it, though I would think.

And Ericksonian ANYTHING never seemed to cooperate with me. Quite possibly because I didn't have the patience to read through the Hypnotic Techniques of Milton Erickson, Vol 1.

One day, one day...

A baby can not be hypnotised in the normal sense because babies are not open to suggestion. Someone older could be hypnotised without being aware of it at the time. Most phobias, for example, come about from a form of self-hypnosis that the person is completely unaware of. Practice makes perfect in hypnosis and phobics tend to be the most practiced of all and so, usually, the easiest people to hypnotise. The individual is completely unaware that this 'hypnosis practice' has taken place.

That's because 'Ericksonian language' as well as any kind of scripted hypotherapy is doomed to failure.

I fear that the original question on this thread, is one that Michael Jackson has often asked...

I had a short lived career in hypnotherapy that was based on scripted sessions. It was short lived because the ungrateful buggers kept phoning me up and demanding extra sessions or their money back as soon as they started smoking again.

I did have one hugely succesful session that revolved around a woman who was terrified of driving. By the end of the session I had her outside on the road kissing her car. A day later she phoned to let me know that she'd succesfully driven to Scotland, which was a relief as when I heard her voice I immediately assumed that she was in hospital and wanted her money back.

I occasionally do stop smoking sessions. However I also supply a tape of my induction so they can hypnotise themselves at home. They have no need to see me again. I tell them that they can listen to the tape any time they feel tempted to backtrack. That takes the pressure off me and the onus on them.

I recommend this procedure for magic wand should he ever return to hypnotherapy sessions. I have never had the kind of complaints mentioned and I credit this idea for it.

I have also done past life regressions in the past but this is more in line with the psychic business than the hypnotherapy one. Basically you take people back to their past life and they describe it on tape for you. I give them the tape to take home.
