Eesh. Crackpots. Sounds like a charming fella'.

Robb, I think if you come to the UK expecting the sort of concierge led healthcare that Mr. Moore puts forward, where you get every drug and test you can think of, put up in a 5 star room and given a good handshake and a wad of cash on the way out, you may find your hopes dashed somewhat... :D

R.e. silence, I was amused to watch the Dowden "14 tricks/24hours" DVD, hoping to see him go out on the UK streets for once and get "killer reactions" the likes of which L&L can only dream of.

Well, the reactions were pretty good, but did anyone else notice... almost all the specs he chooses on the streets of London are foreign!

From my experience, East Europeans give a good reaction. They seem to love magic. Maybe it's something that's strong in their culture, but if I was to film some 'street' magic I would definitley feature a large number of Poles and Lithuanians as specs.

Yes, we gave the world hospitals and education and you gave us McDonalds and overhyped rubbish films. Yes, thanks for that.

I think perhaps you misunderstand me. I live in America, but I have always been a friend to the U.K. If you knew me personally, you would know this. But, back to the magic- which is why we are here is it not?

I believe that street magician who appear in magic shows, repeat the same trick over all day long to different audiences and pick the best reaction for their needs.

A simple episode can sometimes take a week to produce so their public are far from a reference to the country or towns they represent. They most likely represent the image the show want you to see.

As for crowd reactions, I'm always amazed no matter they applause yell or just shut it down till you finish. I partly understand why but still some people will react different because of their own life experiences. I had read somewhere that vanish often cause breath stopping reactions, while apparition bring natural applause.

It all make sense if you apply it in relations with life. Nobody will ever be happy to lose something, while if you win something nice for a minimum work you will be more then happy.

Also there is the whole concept of brainstorms, how can someone accordingly react to something if he still dont understand what happend?

Astonishment has many forms of reaction from laugh to fear you can explore many kind of emotions and everytime you should get different reactions. That is probably why magic is an art in itself because it does transmit different emotions.

I dont think i prefer one to the other, i just like when i get the reactions im looking for. Silences are nice tho :)
