I have heard bits and pieces. Is it he that did the fantastic version of the 'Super Mario' theme on uke? That was sensational (and very hard to play!)

There's a good uke website called Alligator Boogaloo and you'd be suprised how many pop and rock songs sound good on the ukulele. In fact, every Morrissey/Smiths song sounds natural when performed in a George Formby style which prompted my comedy character George Smith who hasn't appeared on stage for a while. His catchphrase was "Turned out miserable again!"

Not sure if he did the Super Mario Bros. theme - but here's a clip of him playing While My Guitar Gently Weeps:

I'm not too familiar with George Formby's work - but what I have heard is exceptional.

Is that the 60s folk group or the country super group (Cash, Nelson, Jennings and Kristofferson)?

Also... I love the ukulele (I also love the melodica, big up to all those obscure instrumentalists out there!).

Also... "Here in Your Arms" by Hello Goodbye is kinda gooey but happens to be "our song" for me and the girl. So I like it.

And right now, I'm listening to Neko Case's song "Hold On, Hold On" which is ace, although not as amazing as the previous song "Samson" by Regina Spektor which is pretty much the most beautiful song ever written, I defy anyone with a heart not to get goosebumps listening to it.

I'm not listening to anything. However, just a moment ago I was idly singing a verse from West Along the Road by Jimmy Gregory - a folk musician you've almost certainly never heard of (which is unfortunate for you).

Jimmy Gregory (West Along the Road) wrote:Well, the night was lit by a yellow moon
And the clouds were slowly drifting
Across the sea on a scented breeze
That was gently blowing.
A feeling touched the heart of me
That I was well to knowing
'Cos I know just where I've been
And I know where I'm going.

Going west along the road, with a thousand miles behind me
Going west along the road, where fortune always finds me
Going west along the road.

Lovely clip, I have seen him before.
Tiny Tim is another ukulele legend.

Formby is the Hendrix of the uke but with better lyrics and very
risque for the time - check out "My Little Stick of Blackpool Rock", which is obviously rhyming slang!!
