Hello All,
I'm Rajat Mittal, 28 yrs old, and a serious hobbyist. It's been 18 years now since I first fooled my mother by a trick from Henry Hay's Amateur Magician's Handbook, 16 years since my first pass (done badly, but it fooled them!), and 14 years since my first "paid" performance (I received the equivalent of 5 dollars for a 4 minute show).
I work full time at a hedge fund in London, so rarely have as many opportunities to perform as I did at school and college. I’ve thus naturally become much more focussed on impromptu magic that I can do with everyday objects. I’ve begun to feel over time, that in impromptu conditions, there is rarely anything stronger than mentalism. For the last 4 or 5 years therefore, I’ve almost exclusively studied mentalism.
I’ve been reading the posts here passively for a few days now, and find the quality of discussion to be very good on this forum. Also, it feels a lot better organised than another magic forum I’m used to visiting. As a result of a busy job, I’ll unfortunately not be able to contribute as often as I’d like, but I do try to read and keep track of the threads I find interesting (when my boss isn’t looking). I look forward to being a part of this group and learning from all the excellent contributors here…
