Sadly there is a lot of misinformation about this item around - some of it spread by people who should know better.
I like the Labco product - its reliable and does a job well but Probe was not meant to compete dead on so really the comparison is a little silly. Its like looking at a $4k prediction chest and asking whether its better than Confabulation. If we'd wanted a labco style product then we'd have made one. Each does its own job. Now the French thing is out of the picture we can both breath easy.
Probe is made and was developed by Dave Everett - my name is associate with it since I have a working and product profile and it was me who worked on the presentations and brought it to market. I'm lucky enough to have had the first one.
I like it because it is lighter, smaller, easier to put on, more convenient in many ways (and, if its part of your decision making, under a third of the price). I'm a busy corporate worker and price doesn't bother me. If I needed UFO I'd buy one. I will pay whatever I need to in order to get what I want. Many of my items are hand made since its the only way I could get the perfect thing for me.
Probe is the perfect thing for me. It takes up no space, I put it on like a watch and I'm ready. I don't have to climb into it and stick wires up my sleeve and through holes in my jacket.
Many people buy both and we have many customers who have bought 2 or 3 probes and carry them in each of their bags. Some people go from UFO to Probe others go from Probe to UFO - its a personal choice. The user list is like a who's who in magic. Its not fair to tell you who they are but I have stories of it on 30 TV shows in at least 7 countries.
Look out for some new accessories and some of my personal working routines in the next 2 months.
I will also have them and some new products at the British Ring IBM convention in September 09.
