care of wikipedia:

Initially he thought himself to be gay and tried the gay lifestyle but didn't fit in. After someone in a supermarket approached him and said they thought he should become a woman, he came to the realisation that he was transsexual, and transitioned to become a woman in 1998. In 2001 Harries had sex reassignment surgery.

In 2004, Channel 4 broadcast a documentary Little Lady Fauntleroy made by actor Keith Allen in which he interviewed the Harries family. They told him they were marriage counsellors with a sideline in private investigation. They also claimed to have many qualifications demonstrating their abilities in those fields, the entire family being Doctors of Metaphysics.

Allen discovered that many of the qualifications had been purchased on the internet and that Harries' own mother had overseen Harries' counselling on the psychological aspects of gender reassignment. A number of other aspects of the family's life did not bear scrutiny.

The first paragraph made me laugh, everytime I'm in a supermarket from now on I'll make a habit of telling every man I see I think they should be a woman in a hope at least one will take it seriously lol

Sorry, on hindsight I maybe should have said hermaphrodite. But I'm confused about James as much as he/she is. On the doc he said he was a woman but still had the male appendages attached which surely is something which only a man would have, so he was neither male or female and sort of an "inbetweenie".

I think people like that are really sad. It must be so strange having the mind of a woman but the body of a man. You just wouldn't fit in anywhere, must be really horrible.

I used to feel like I was a man trapped in a woman's body.... then I was born!

It can be a lot of fun too! (er, so I'm told  )

It's not "just" sad and horrible.
And as for "fitting in", perhaps the place they "fit in" is a place called "society"? "It takes many types to make a world." as my dear auld grandmother once said to me as she sat in her rocking chair, smoking her pipe and stroking her beard.

I have been recently reading Tarot at a place in London called the Way Out Club and it's been an eye-opener watching the goings on at 3 o'clock in the morning in between readings. But most of them don't look very sad or upset ha ha ha! You should see some of the blokes that run after that kind of woman too!

I used to love seeing Fay Presto at The Magic Circle when I used to go a few years ago, in and amongst some of the most conservative white middle class men I had ever been around.

If there's a rule then it's there to be broken! Isn't that wonderful??!!
Mash it up!!

Sadly society only has a veneer of respectibility. It's the same as it ever was.

People tend to hark on about a past that they see as being lovely and nice where you could leave your door open and no-one would pinch anything etc etc. Personally though I would rather walk through London 2008 at night than London 1888 at night. I know which walk would most likely end up with me being robbed and stabbed and dumped in the Thames.

2008 surley Mr Wand. Some one once said to me "You know when things got bad in hackney murders are on the middle page of the local rag" sad but true.

To counter Vodoo Micks comments that he was sad at the tone that was taken. I am sadden that there are a certian amount of bending over backwards (pun intended) for these people. Where there marching through the street baning the drum about it. If they want to be left alone stop drawing attention to your self. Gay pride indeed if you are gay the fair enough but the world is not interested or needs to know.

It almost as bad as people bending over for pregnant women they got them self in to that state they can jolly well get on with it.

And the Victorians where not moral they where full of vice and opium dens and the likes. There was strange carry ons back then as there are now. Except medical Science has made it abit stranger.

On the to the antiques kid he needed a slap then and needs a slap now he is a she. Little toad that he is.

I am master of misdirection, look over there.

We are not falling out young Welshy, we are debating, I think farlsy is an idiot he thinks I am one. We are just talking about who is the bigger idiot.

As we've now gone quite a way off the orginal topic, perhaps we ought to leave things as they are at this point.....
