There are quite a few of these, originally intended to weed out the naghty words but quickly adapted to save lazy/drunken/ Mods from having to type in the full names!

(After you with the Tesco own brand Amontillado Abraxus, ta ever so.....)

It's true if you type my name without the spaces you get my full title:

Pain in the a**e!

The one that always annoys me is how, if I type the abbreviation for the Latin for "that is" (i.e. i.e.), the "i" in "i.e." ends up being automatically capitalised.

So does the i in "i", which I guess indicates the reason for it, but "i" is not always the first person pronoun.

if ever you attend a plain english course, they tell you not to use e.g. or i.e. as, sadly, due to the average reading age, there's an increase in people who no longer understand what either mean - so they recommend using "for example"...

completely useless factoid #31204, in a series of 3

I can never remember when to use i.e. and when to use e.g. was always getting moaned at at school for getting them the wrong way round.

I just checked the settings and found that lower case 'i' was set to change to upper case 'I' - I don't remember why this was done but I've changed it back so all your little 'i's will stay little.
