Nice one Tom! Ever since I saw D.Blaine using the ID I've been cringing in case it's marketed 'As used by David Blaine'!

It really hits home, that comment...

In fact, it would seem unusual that DB hasn't brought out some 'Endorsed' branded merchandise by now. He'd make a fortune with 'The BLAINE Street Magic Kit' - and I think we'd all know at least 5 of the items contained within!

Shhhhh! He may be listening!!

(There are actually one or two other areas where 'Street Magic as used by David Blaine' is/was used for marketing some sets - sad but that's life, I suppose!)

Never a truer word spoken, I had't thought of that before, maybe he is allergic to money, like Derren and his dvds, hehe.

levitations old hat because of to much david blaine, david copperfield, infact david full stop.

regards cheepo plassy magic, venerable paul daniels, marvins magic, and sooty says it all, haveing said that several hundred years ago when i was a kid paul did a selection of boxed magic tricks graded by skill thease were good quality plassy props and had a reasonable price tag, my first vanishing silk trick, big black rubber egg???.
were they said to place it  made it ideal for pulse tricks too

Paul's range of tricks under the Magic Marketing banner were extremely good quality - proper brass dynamic coins, actual playing cards rather than just cheap cardboard printed things, decent standard solid plastic for the cups, the dice etc. Sadly, the whole enterprise went bust and the items marketed under his name these days in toyshops etc are not exactly top quality. (Items from his website are much better quality but are usually more expensive than emagictricks!!). Ah, the good old days!

just to chip my pennys worth in... the most OVERRATED piece of equipment has to be the raven.... how many people bought it and how many people use it? i'll bet theres a big difference in answers

nail hit the head on - arrange into a familiar saying :)

That's why I included the reel raven in my top 3, so many people got the raven, never used it and were then convinced to buy another noisier version!
Go figure, sometimes I just have to wonder about consumers, lol.

I hear that when all the magicians in the world stop using their Ravens....the monarchy will crumble.

Joke in there somewhere...probably best for Londoners.

raven gets my vote too, couldn,t find a practical use for it.
how many of us will be forking out for a two headed raven to stick in the draw then??.

funny how everyone has this big thing against David Blaine (ok not everyone according to the other thread on here) but when asked, most magi be they amatuer or pro, most of them have either bought a raven or traded for one and i'll stick my neck out and say that they saw DB use his and thought "that looks awesome" so its funny that a lot of people have a grudge against him but will go out and buy one of the effects that he used..... also healed and sealed... another example of "yeah DB is an a**e, Pr**k or whatever but we WILL go out and copy his selection of tricks

ok im starting to ramble but i thought it would be a good idea to combine both threads... hehe

OK, call me a spanner in the works (most people have called me a spanner from an early age, so no love lost...)

I actually LIKE the Raven - because of it's uses BEYOND the so-called 'Blaine effect' (coin vanish).

The Raven II is an eagerly anticipated addition to my collection, as it allows loading as well as ditching in the same device - simultaneously.

I know what you are saying, but the Raven is a utility device rather than an effect, and although it IS overrated (I agree), it has more uses than the standard effect that most narrow-minded 'Blainites' would use it for.

So, as far as chucking mine into Room 101, sorry, but I like it!

It's almost like dismissing TTs after Penn & Teller did the mass 'full audience hanky vanish'. No, they didn't show how it was done on TV - but we know the only feasible method... and yet I still use the TT as a UTILITY device.

I have a raven which I don't use, but I probably wouldn't class it as too overrated. It is a great device, I just can't find something I really want to do with it. I am glad I've got one and loved it when I first got it years ago, but I m still yet to use it in anger.
