Just thought i'd say hi. im trying to learn some card tricks. just for my self really but i would like to get good at them. i just love the reaction you get when you do a trick so well they cant work out how you did it. i'v been working things out for my self so far but just orderd some books of amazon.

At the minute im having a problem with
erdnase change. i can do the trick but have essues with it looking perfect. . im also having problems with the DL. im not sure if its the cards im using (bicycle cards) as they seem very big in my hands.
im not sure what i can say on here so if any one can help through PM it would be a big help.

thanks mick

Welcome Amxen

You're obviously a newbie - nothing wrong with that as we were all in the same position at some stage.

Some quick and friendly advice

1. Make sure that you read the stickies as they contain all sorts of useful information to note when joining the forum. This will save you falling foul of our rules and give you a better idea of what can and cannot be posted or asked. So far you're OK

2. Don't be disheartened with your progress to date. Magic takes time and practice and then more practice. Some sleights can take weeks and sometimes months to perfect. Don't be tempted to show tricks to anyone until you can get the moves perfect ten times out of ten. Then you will really impress.

Hello and welcome!

It sounds like you're off to a great start and that you're prepared to put the practise in to make your 'tricks' look good. You're using some of the best cards for magic (bicycles really are great) if they feel a bit big in your hands just keep practising with them until they start to feel 'normal' and other cards feel too small.

Most card sleights will take you a while to learn and then a bit longer to master and even longer still to perfect. Practise is probably the most important thing out there.

Try repeating the DL or Erdnase change while you're just sat there watching TV, repeat it over and over again until your hands 'learn' the movements. Try not to focus on doing sleights too quickly to start with, get the technique right at the start and the speed will build up naturally.

I hope these pointers help you out a little, good luck and enjoy your time here.
