I like the ID over the stripper for a reason I don't understand. I've just always thought of the stripper deck as being crude. I don't know why, I've just always prefferred the ID.

The fact is there are different gaff decks for different situations.

Stripper deck is so flexible and sparks creativity.

Svengali deck allows for some eye popping magic but also allows for complete lazyiness.

I.D is the best member to have graced these forums  sorry, I meant I.D allows for some devestating effects and also a mentalism touch.

Lawrences Oracle deck allows you to tell that girl you fancy her, if your too shy to say it yourself

Its really down to you and what youwant to achieve. I say try them all and make your own conclusions.

I use all 4, at some stage..

What blasphemy is this?

Actually, I seriously need to pair down the number of decks I work with again: An ID, a partially stacked stripper for a long routine I'm currently having fun with, an unstacked stripper for impromptu stuff and sometimes even a Stebbins stacked one - that's four in total. Plus if I'm at a celebration, I'll have a red Oracle deck on me, too!

I remember loving the Mirage deck when I got it, but I'm too out of practice now to know why. And like every other magician I also carry the ID ready to cover my ass, but otherwise I don't use gaff decks.

Unfortunately, people are quite familiar with the svengali if not by name (a while ago my housemate was busy telling me how someone she'd snogged a few times in halls had showed her "these cards that are long and short" :x) so I'd never want to use one without a well timed switch in or out. And that's another deck of cards in my pocket...

I got myself a mixed deck of gaffed cards, double facers, double backs, blank cards, mis-indexed cards, the infamous 3 1/2 clubs and 14 of spades. So many to remember and so many possibilities.

I say if you are going to get a gaffed deck, then this is the one I would advise, purely because it allows you to be creative

Tam shepards still dont have blue backed svens in as of last sat, but I do use a stripper (which is quite nice) and a blank deck (purely for creative reasons).
