well the boxes have all arrived, I've packed my book shelf away and it's not going to be long before my desk and computer have to be packed away too.

The two boring accountant types that are moving in have already been in poking around and deciding where they're going to put things. I really could have slapped the stuffy old fart when he announced that the painting behind my desk would have to go! I painted that!!!! A lovely piece of Celtic knotwork which took me weeks and if he thinks he's going to have a chance to get riud of it, he's got another thing comming. I've promised it to my office mate, good job she's here to calm me down.

Breath, Becky, breath....

More like bad and evil.

I know from experience that I am incapable of working if I am surrounded by the sound of twenty monkeys on keyboards.

And then there's the inalienable human right to swear loudly at a computer.

Whenever I fancied a brew, I resented the fact that I had to make half a dozen different cuppas, sometimes for people I didn't particularly like. And the kitchen was always filthy.

It's much better working at home for yourself, even if the Christmas parties are poorly attended.

Ah yes the dreaded tea runs. I find it funny how a shouted question of "has anyone lifted my pen?" would get more attention in a morgue. Yet if a cough even sounds remotely like a cup of tea you have 10 people saying two sugars and white please.

Can anybody please help me? I'm having terrible problems controlling my streetmagic- I can't walk down a street without turning into a pub.

I am master of misdirection, look over there.

We are not falling out young Welshy, we are debating, I think farlsy is an idiot he thinks I am one. We are just talking about who is the bigger idiot.

nah...i never offer to make tea or coffee for anyone...sod that..

well, i used to show favourtism for my mate, but she's gone now...

won't be the same without her...it'll be quieter...

that's a pointless joke to make, cos she wont be reading this...

i'll text her it instead...

anyway - open plan, its just an excuse to be nosey, and i dont react to nosiness very well, i get angry very quickly with that...

the upsides are, human interaction regardless of whether its good or bad - character reading is very useful with this...also, if its open plan, and busy, you can easily dissapear for a while and no one notices, whereas, if youre in your own office...if you're not there...you're not there...

working for The Man is horrible...damn you Tomo!

from now on at work, for me, I'm just going to become a faceless android, pumping out .css, html and images 'til i can run away somewhere nice...

Lady of Mystery

How has the move to open plan gone now that you've been doing it a while.

Curious from a proffessional perspective

I don't like it, the atmosphere is much more stuffy, where we used to have a giggle and a laugh we can't do that any more. And I really hate it when people keep walking around behind me.

The idea that it was meant to improve comunication hasn't really worked either, everyone just sits in their little groups.

I'm being moved out of my nice, cosy little office into a horrible shared things, where you're not allowed any music, have to keep a clear desk, can't put anything up on the walls and can't have any fun

Hi Lomster - sounds like you have the desk next to mine
