I know what you mean Lozey. It's almost as if these people don't realise we have lives outside of work.
Sam (our manager who is a very nice woman) is going to have a word with Barry to see if something can't be worked out. To be honest, it's not his fault really. Other people have booked that weekend off but his attitude really bugged me. Hopefully Sam will be able to work some magic of her own!
Hi Tenko, a headset sounds good! I was thinking of affecting a limp and using a walking cane for the day. The only thing that was puitting me off the idea was the possibility that I would be holding a mic and have no free hands. If I had a headset, though...
Also, I was wondering if I could have a piece of music played before the start of my set? The piece would be Spiegel im Spiegel by Arvo Part, a contemporary Estonian composer. It's a lovely piece for a violin and piano. It's about eight minutes long, so this would push my set to half an hour. There won't be anything happening while the music is playing. The idea is to provide a space that signals that something strange, and hopefully beautiful is going to happen. Also, I want to provide a space that separates what I do from what has gone before.
I hope that doesn't sound arrogant, or too strange. I'm happy to discuss it in further detail if you're unsure about it.
I must say, I'm really quite excited. I've not done a mentalism set before. Speaking of which, I've been having fun playing with Between the Lines and Being There (the example effect provided with Sensory Projection by the Underground Collective). Both are very good, although BTL seems to be easier to pull off because people make some funny connections with movies. If you get Sensory Projection, you'll know what I mean.
