The use of your own blood isn't a good idea. Assuming you don't get some kind of infection from the knife or whatever, in this day and age the very real fear of contamination by contact with blood and other bodily fluids would make it a very worrying experience for your audience. Stick with the fake stuff, you can have far more fun !

Wow, Amazing ideas really Mage Tyler, Never really thought just doing something added on instead of changing it so I think I really like your idea with a mixture maybe of burning the card with a "mystical herb" Trevorm was talking about.

Also Lady of Magic do you know of any good custom card shops, I would have not the start on where to get cards and where to make my own really.So If you happen to know a place for special symboled or more odd card designs would love it.


P.S Ya, I never meant for the blood part to be a big issue, I have done demonstrations for people with my throwing knives. And I do get cut plenty of times if something goes wrong when I'm throwing, And most people are more intrigued like did he really just cut himself then just wow get away. Though not sure if that is because of my states culture, or my nations culture. So to be honest never really saw the "fear" of cutting.But I can see where everyone is coming from.

But to be honest it does not have to be my blood, If I knew what blood sticked to, I could use a pool of say fake blood(mixture of corn syrup and dye) or I could use animal blood. The use of say Animal blood would be even easier to do the effect at a restaurant as any steak house or nicer, Will have blood you can request to have them bring to you from the kitchen.

I mean if I knew all of that thinking my effect could go like.

1.Choose a card(symbol)
2.Patter,While burning card in bowl with mystical herb
3.Use ashes, Or if I knew what blood sticked to could use the fake blood in a bowl or the animal blood in a bowl(Only liking that idea because it is viable in most restaurants. But fake blood works fine to)
4.Finish
5.Wounded effect by paper crane maybe? though not sure if a stigmata effect could be fit into it. maybe when you burn the card with the herb?


P.S While thinking about using the Wounded effect, I though a good use may be using my right hand to show a false card(symbol) then saying I must have mis focused and I need to try again and then when im trying use the blood from the eyes effect of the Wounded effect and then use my left hand show the right card(symbol)

you could get some blank faced cards and draw your symbols on them (most magic shops will sell you a pack of these), that'd be the easiest and cheepest way of doing it. Or just use memo cards.

There are loads of Effects using blood (Stigmata type) esp if you look into Bizarre Magick.

However - BE Very Careful with any Effect using Real blood or Fake - As ^ people said in this day and age you have to be Very Careful - Law suits..etc...

PLEASE dont use animal blood - There is just as much a risk from infection as there is with human Blood.

Whilst this may all sound negative - I do a stigmata routine all the time - But i never let the spectator come near.

Ah no not negative at all, But makes sense I mean it dosn't even need to use blood at all. But the Wounded by Papercrane productions stigmata effect was so amazing I was planning on getting it so trying to work it in some way I can. Like I said could just be the blood from eyes rather then the full blood in palms as well.

Only reason why I thought of blood is because im afraid the Ashes trick is so well known most people will know what is going on and wont be as entertained then if it was even more out there with blood or similar.
