Hey, my name is Bryan but almost everybody I know calls me fiddle...long story. I'm 20 years old and I'm the kinda guy that everybody likes as like a best friend, you know how that goes. I also have a problem with meeting new people and building a solid friendship with new people mainly because I never know what to say at first, once I know someone I'm one of the funniest people they know but until then I come off as kinda wierd cause I don't really talk...I kinda turned to magic to try and solve this little issue. I've been trying to learn some card tricks on and off but have been really limited due to funds and time with work and such but I still managed to pick up a few DVD's at my local magic shop. I have the ambitious card routine from Ellusionist and also IMPACT! from the owner of the magic shop. I have been mainly sticking to cards because most of everything else usually required gimmicks and such, or so I thought. I was looking for a review to a DVD which led me here for the first time. I poked around and started reading some of the threads and such and really was surprised at how many other kinds of "magic" are really implemented. I had some knowledge of NLP through Neil Strauss and Derren Brown but I didn't really know how cool it really is and it seems like a great way to get to know someone and build rapport. I recently quit my job and am going to be getting some awesome unemployment and I see this as some time to really learn some cool stuff in regards to mental magic and physical. I noticed that this forum is pretty "newb" friendly so I have some high hopes in regards to advice and just all around chatting. Well I guess thats my life story, hahaha.

Hi Bryan, welcome to TM :D

Oh there's so much more out there than just cards.

One book I'd really suggest you having a look at is Mark Wilson's Complete Course, it's a very good book that'll give you a good base in lots of areas of magic.

You might want to get a little experience in magic before you look at mentalism. To pull mentalism off well you really need to have the presentation, which might be easier to get to grips with if you start off with other types of magic.

Yeah? I'll definitely check out that book as soon as possible :) . I was just browsing and thought of the funniest thing that I am definitely going to do. I wanna record myself "learning" tricks and flourishes in front of my computer. It just hit me thinking how my roommates think it's hilarious watching trying to learn something for the first time. I was just trying to learn the Jones Change and I wish I had a webcam, seriously funny stuff. Do you think that kind of thing would be a welcome addition to the forums?

Welcome, card tricks are always nice. Been making friends paranoid at poker night by doing a few. Sadly I'm working with five year olds currently which mostly rules out cards.
