Scarne's aces.

Postby Lenoir » Jun 22nd, '08, 19:43

I'm happy with my new found Scarne ace cutting routine. Spectator shuffles, I show my hands are emtpy, then inspect the sides of the deck from crimps and of course find nothing! I then proceed to dead cut to 3 aces, and then with either a blindfold or a spectators hands over my eyes, I dead cut the final!

Anyone else perform similar dead cut ace routines?

I just love Sal Piacente's Ace dead cutting routine on his lecture notes DVD. No gaffs, no crimps, no nothing... and it works -with a bit of practice- every single time. The best part is, that the deck is riffle shuffles in between each cut... devastating.

I think it's the best ace cutting routine I know so far...

I haven't seen it, Scarne's was pretty revolutionary of its time. Anyones deck, borrowed, and he would still amaze.

Paul Gordon does a great dead cut routine. Showed it at the Sussex MC lecture last week but didn't have time to explain it sadly

There's a very clever and simple ace cutting (or four card production) effect in BBM - 10 below zero DVD.

The spec shuffles the deck and you can get the cards instantly, there is a small setup for it, but nothing to hard.

Can anybody please help me? I'm having terrible problems controlling my streetmagic- I can't walk down a street without turning into a pub.

There's quite a few really good ace cutting tricks in Bill Malone's here I go again series,
one from Marlo and another from Steve Forte. In fact there's quite a few ace tricks in there

I have Here I Go Again by Bill Malone (him being my hero) and his ace cutting effect is good, but it's incredibly advanced. It's basically a kin to tightrope walking - if you mess up even slightly you're Eff to the Ucked.

I use Paul Gordon's one but you can't shuffle between each ace, well not real shuffles anyway.

Where can i find a routine where the spectator can shuffle the cards? Books, dvds?

My my I never thought i'd see the day when the Queen of Clubs talking about an effect being highly advanced. A bit to spicy for ya is it?

Best stick to- pick a card, any card eh?

That's what I love about Scarne's aces, there really isnt much that can go wrong!

Well, Bill claims his routine is based on Scarne's Aces. I can't explain what I mean by it being a tightrope walk without giving things away, but you have to be extremely good at estimating as you perform the cuts. If you're more than two cards out... yikes.

How is Scarne's routine infallible, then? Did he c**mp or c**ner sh*rt or what? In fact, you'd probably better not answer that. D'oh!

Marlo's Estimated Aces allows for a overhand shuffle and a Faro shuffle before you start, then you can cut to them though it takes practise to estimate how deep to cut.

Hey guys. I just found this DVD and apparently teaches Scarne's Aces. It looks like an excellent DVD. I won't be getting it but I thought I might let you guys know about it :-).

Muhaha, I hope people make a good use of the DVD, it really is an amazing routine. I have a video of me performing the effect, just haven't got round to sticking on the 'tube!
