I'm not sure if you've noticed, Chriss Angel is not a particularly good magician.

Bobby_Cat, what do you think makes a good magician then?

Ridiculous amounts of camera cuts and editing? Not to mention stooges and entirely stooged audiences?

That's the popular myth, but not the reality. CA obviously uses stooges, and creative editing for TV... but not always. He is a skillful magician with great creative flair and innovative presentation. He definately entertains.

A popular myth? It doesn't take a magician to see through Chriss Angel. It's embarassing at times how ridiculous some of his effects are. With the BLATENT use of stooges and camera editing I think the show's aimed at kids who believe in fairies at the bottom of the garden. I couldn't believe some of the things I saw on mind freak. I was laughing at some effects at how terrible they were.

Anyone who disagrees should watch -

Actually, I find CA rather entertaining which is the point of what he does.

Whether you like him as a person or not is another matter and all of the TV magicians have their critics but despite this, TV would be much the worse without them!

Put it into perspective - the majority of thise who he performs to are non-magicians who won't know about or spot any technical exposures that he may happen to make.

Yes he uses stooges, yes he exploits camera angles and editing but if you don't expect that on mainstream TV these days then perhaps you're a bit naive. Some of the great names in magic have done the same or similar in their time and scaled down it's a bit like saying that you shouldn't do an ambitious card routine using a DL because it's cheating.

Oh - and welcome to TM

Well then Dat, I would say he is a good tv magician/entertainer. In my eyes the magic is what you really see, live. I doubt a Chriss Angel live show would be amazingly magical.

:x I find him to be the biggest insult to the whole of magic... what little good he did for it a few years ago has long since been cancelled out via his arrogance, dishonesty and as Penn & Teller would say "BULL SH**!"

Oh, I agree sooo much with Wild Card and Craig Browning!
Christopher Nicholas Sarantakos aka. Chriss Angel is rubbish magician, at the most a good TV entertainer and I'm also sure that he would not last long on stage.

Live magic is REAL magic for me. He couldn't and won't ever perform anything spectacular live.

Welcome to TM.

For me I dislike CA as a magician, he just doesen't excite me the way other magicians do but saying that I have never had Criss perform directly for me so I can't necesarily say he is a bad magician I can just say he doesen't appeal to me personally.

Based on this comment, I'm assuming therefore you haven't seen one. Hard to judge therefore...

Dat, I think your comments sum it up best.
