Wholeheartedly agree with all the comments about Facebook. I've also made sure all MSN and similar live chat facilities are erased from my machine.

I did have an account with Classmates for about a year, but quit when the sudden realisation hit that there weren't more than three people from school I even remembered the names of, and I didn't particularly care whether I heard from them again. If any of them want to find me for any unfathomable reason, they can expend the effort to hunt me down.

To get in touch with people on line, there's e-mail. For photos, keep a Flickr account and you can direct people there.

I own a mobile phone, but have no idea what its number is. It's switched on perhaps once a month (at most), and actually used perhaps once or twice a year. The only real reason it exists is for emergencies, and as a line to home when I'm out and about. I've only sent texts on one occasion, and that was because someone was meeting me and texted me first. That was weird, and I would rather have just spoken to him and got the communication over with.
