One of my suggestions, in my column in the Linking Ring, was to paint the die gold and use it as a gold bar.
Actually, I use it as either a Rubic's cube (It's just the right size)or as a bone, in the late Bill Larsen Sr.'s brilliant and hilarious routine on Mother Hubbard.
But whatever the case, Darrel hits the nail on the head by saying that it needs a reason to be whatever it is (in his case, a giant die from a snakes and ladders game).
