Im currently finishing Scar Tissue by Anthony Keidis (Red Hot Chilli Peppers)..

Its a really interesting book, thats not so much your typical rock and roll autobiography. The underlying message in the book about what drugs can do to you and how to cope is very interesting.

I think this would be much use to people who maybe get themselves in an uncontrollable situation with it. Aside from that deep bit-theres a lot of funny anecdotes in it too!

I'm about to start The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch, and just finished the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (Douglas Adams) and before that The Stand (Stephen King)

But I'm on vacation so I might get something else seeing as The Last Lecture seems sort of upsetting.

Just started Intuition by David Myers. Looks good so far.

I don't enjoy novels as much as I used to. I seem to prefer history, reference and biography stuff these days, usually about the Victorian spiritualists. Sign of age I fear.

The Time Machine by HG Wells was the first book to truly inspire me. I read it from cover to cover when I was about 10, so that would be, ooh, 34 years ago. I guess that was where all this nonsense really started for me.

The Contortionist's Handbook by Craig Clevenger is an awesome novel thus far (three quarters in...). The main character has an extra ring finger and so was encouraged by his father to learn magic to avoid getting beat up at school. The opening describes him doing a coin roll whilst being interrogated by a psychologist.

Any novel endorsed by Irvine Welsh is worth the read

Just finished Chuck Palahniuk's latest book, Snuff....

not his best work, I'm afraid.

Before that was Daniel Negreanu's Power Hold'em Strategy - excellent read!

I was thinking of cracking into Stephenie Meyer's vampire series. I'm incredibly dubious, as it looks like it could be another Anne Rice scenario...

I've just discovered Bill Bryson, and I'm working my way through his books at the moment. I've just finished Notes From a Small Island, and I've just started Walk In The Woods. Very funny.

It is an excellent book...

My preferences these days are travel books - Bill Bryson is a favourite (magikmax, if you like Notes From A Small Island I think you'll love Notes From A Big Country) but Tim Cahill and Tony Hawks rank highly. More loosely in the genre I love anything by Danny Wallace and/or Dave Gorman.

Currently I'm reading American Psycho and Beyond Good and Evil.

Thanks Cardza, I've already got it, and his recent biography, so I'll be reading that next. I also like travel books, the Pete MacCarthy ones were also very good, i might try the Tony Hawks one round Ireland once I've finished the Brysons

Reading Tescopoly at the moment which give a daunting and damning insight into the Tesco monopoly.

It's scandalous what they do and how they get away with it.

I can't believe that! I recently read that book, too. It's absolutely the best music (auto)biography I've ever read. Fantastic book.

Have you noticed that the picture on the front cover looks like Anthony has just been given the world's most horrific 'atomic wedgie'?
