Best F*lse R*ffle

Postby MasterCyde » Sep 16th, '08, 16:30

I've got a method for the f*lse r*ffle which I use quite alot but I feel it isn't completely foolproof. There are times when people are scrutinising me and spot it.

Can any1 refer me to a book or DVD with what they feel has the best f*lse r*ffle on? Preferably one covered by your hands so they can't even see what's happening

Well, as far as false shuffles go.....you can't really put a foot wrong with Lennart Greens DVD. It's Called "Green Magic" - Vol 4 (I think)

It's full of great false shuffles, including the 'Real Green Shuffle' - a really convincing false riffle shuffle which will make you hang your head in shame when you see the explanation.

I couldn't believe I hadn't spotted the method when I first watched it, but afterwards, I was actually even more impressed by how deceptive the shuffle really was, and quickly began learning the technique.

Also, learn the Zarrow shuffle by the late, great, Herb Zarrow. It's a very visual false shuffle which I think most magicians use a version of.

Good luck with your search. Hope you find the riffle shuffle that suits you best.

Definately. Herb Zarrow on the Zarrow is an excellent resource. If you take time and master this shuffle, you are forever set!

Quick question. Seeing both effects it looks like the Zarrow shuffle can only be done on a table and the Green version doesn't have to be.

I might be totally wrong but could someone clear this up as alot of the time I don't have a table to work with.

The Green DVD will teach you lots of false shuffles. Overhand false shuffles, riffles, tonnes.

However, look at Green's style. It's sloppy, it's meant to look sloppy. Does that suit your style? I prefer the Zarrow as it has a certain table style elegance to it, which is where I perform my card magic.

He wants a false riffle, not 50 quid and 3 discs worth of effects

I use the pull through shuffle. Perhaps I should call it the p** t****** s*fle or the Zarrow. I like them both equally, and while I don't need to do either I do it just for the heck of it. Kind of like learning a f**** its good practice to use it when you don't need to.

I want an in the hands one so maybe the Green or Heinstein shuffle would be more suitable. It's gonna be a coin toss..

What Lenoir is saying is that he's just looking for a false riffle. Past midnight does have a false riffle, but it also has 3 discs of effects and paying 50 quid for 3 discs is a bit expensive if he's only gonna learn the false riffle. It's like saying I want to buy a football, and someone say's buy the company JJB sports, because they sell a lot of footballs.

I've told you a million times not to exagerate! But indeed, that is what I meant. The DVD's and books dedicated to the false shuffles will definately give you a lot more detail and choice, for a cheaper price.

OZ Pearlman has a nice false riffle shuffle: I think it's in "Watch Magic", and it's an in hand shuffle.
