thanks so much for posting your review. It is great to get feedback from someone who has picked up the approach outlined in Reality is Plastic and hit the ground running.

I have had reviews from many magicians and mentalists. The book has been very popular in our community, posibly because of lots of reviews on the magic cafe.

'Reality is Plastic' is a very readable and interesting publication. It gets right to the point and is pared down so that you get straight to the content you bought it for. As someone who had no knowledge of hypnosis before, it has been a great introduction to the subject, and the main plus of the publication is that it gets you right into DOING the work. The way it is structured means that you get to build confidence in yourself very quickly.

Anthony has also put on some day courses, one of which I went along to, It was the same - full of useful information and advice. Anthony's gift is that he can be simultaneously laid back and friendly in the way he presents things but intense in the quantity of actual useful information he gets across.

So...that would be a thumbs up from me.

Covert tends to get bogged down in al sorts of complex language patterns.

If you really want to do hypnosis without permission, don't ask for permission and give amnesia for the hypnosis. It is easier.

The clip of getting drinks in the bar is one example.

Was any preshow hypnosis used there?

I must say I'm impressed by this book. It seems to have all the "bits" that performers are looking for gathered together in one book. No need to spend a £100 on various ebooks and other publications in order to find what you need as a mentalist or magician to make hypnosis work for you. It's all in here.

no pre show hypnosis was used in that routine in the bar. The cucumber routine in the market by comparison does.

I went in the bar with the intention to hypnotise a member of staff. In truth as I approached the bar I was thinking' I am going to do a card trick' to warm them up. When I got to the bar I just went for the handshake induction instead and he went out like a light.

It is outlined in full work for word with explanation in my book.

I remember David Berglass lecturing against using any form of hypnosis whether for entertainment or therapy/medical purposes and now people are writing books on how to instantly hypnotise people against their will and it doesn't matter what you do to them (sticking forks in them ??) or what you get them to do as you can induce amnesia ??

Yes. You are. Sorry. Incredible abuse is the reason you'd want to learn these techniques. I don't want to sound too heartless or evil now....but there's no way I'd spend years of my life learning hypnosis just to 'help' people with their lives. I'd rather use it for financial gain.....or just to look cooler.

Also, I'm afraid you'd probably be hard pushed to find an 'ethical' magician. After all, is it immoral to tell someone you can read their thoughts? Or tell them you can talk to their dead relatives?......of course it is mate.....and thats why people do it. It's lucractive, great entertainment, and makes us feel superior to laymen! (ohh how petty I really am!)

But anyway, I'll leave it to all the professional Mentalists in here to elaborate on this point. Im sure their just itching to defend the morality of this book, and the use of hypnosis in their performances.

Seems to me hypnosis only works the best on people whom are more 'suggestable' than most. Anyone who believes in crystal healing and astrology etc, etc....deserves to be made to think their a chicken

No you are not a voice in the wilderness. Absolutely it is open to abuse. However it does not follow that those who make the effort to master hypnosis have abuse in mind.

I make clear from the outset of my book that moral and ethical obligations are the responsibility of the hypnotist.

just to clarify, i didn;t avtually stick forks in him...just grinded him with a knife. no piercing of the skin involved!

Though it was funny when we covered his hand in ice and he knew not...
