DESmond, pay no heed to those heathens Mandrake and Lenoir because they know not what they say. Derren Brown is a god and should be worshipped as such. Image I would crawl, naked, over broken glass to lick his shadow. If I had to sell my house to buy his book, I would happily do so and be content to live in a Hotpoint washing machine box for the rest of my days.

erm lol to the last one and thanks to the one before the last one.

I am a little less likely to craw naked and stuff for derren because he took his bloody books out of print . . gone down and yet up in my books arrg . . . .. he's both sides of marmite in one. i hate for making hid books sooooo expensive and i love for being amazing and if i had got the book ages a go for making them very profitable but i didn't so i still hate him for that.

Work your way through the Reviews of Books and other printed items at http://www.talkmagic.co.uk/forum45.php, loads of possibilities there!

I, however, do live in America - so if anyone has seen a cheap(er) copy state-side (of either or both) I'd be interested in any links you wanted to post or PM.

As most of the general population of the US has no idea who Derren is, it was always my hypothesis that I might snag a reasonably priced copy, but I'm beginning to think I was mistaken. I suppose ignorance and laziness is fast replaced by greed when money is involved.

Personal view.

Pure Effect is worth every penny that anyone pays for it.
Absolute Magic is hard work and as said previously, contains no specific 'effects'. I am sure that deep study would pay dividends, but not for me.
