Yet another Canadian, eh?

Hi, the name is Bob Smith from London, (hence stage name "London Bobby") living in Canada, better musician than magician, I perform music-hall style pub nights. Occasional trick thrown in only when getting rapt attention from the audience (rare) and maybe a 15 minute bit from Horace the dummy. Otherwise it is three or four hours of barely controlled chaos, bringing British culture to the colonies! :D

I joined this forum because I googled Davenports and found the discussion thread and decided to put in my two bits. I loved the place, it was my regular Saturday afternoon hangout when I was a kid.

I might be imagining it but I think London Bobby is quite well known in Canada not as a magician but in the music field. I swear that when I first worked in Canada with svengali decks in the late seventies London Bobby was quite well established in the entertainment business.

If it is the same London Bobby he must be bloody ancient.

Perhaps I am wrong but I get a vibe that we have a mini celebrity among us. I could be imagining it of course..................

Thank you, Mark. Yes I am bloody ancient but still kicking. I am thinking of doing a cross Canada tour, the London Bobby Final Farewell Tour or the MY God Is He Still Alive Tour. If you remember my shows in Toronto you must also be bloody ancient - or drinking under age at the time.

My blog is at http://londonbobby.com/diary.htm

Funny, never thought of myself as a celebrity, minor or otherwise, but looking back I can see I influenced a lot of Canadians by singing British music hall at them. There is another kind of music other than loud.

You are pretty well known I think. Especially among British ex-patriates I imagine. Well, I have heard of you anyway. Did you once work at the Royal York Hotel eons and eons ago?
