with WD40??? .

I've got plenty of far better things than WD40 to use for that.

I had this exact same problem yesterday and someone also suggested it might be the damp.

So what do you do? I'm a bit simple so i need step-by-steps.

How do you use the damp start stuff?

WD40 spray all over the engine bay - will this be a once over and then it'll be fine from then on? Or is it a temporary instant fix which may need to be repeated next week?

well check me out folks, I just got her started!!!!

I tried doing the plug leads but I think I managed to pull the plugs out too. Not sure if that's supposed to happen so put that back quickly.

I took off the distributor cap and gave that a clean and then gave all the electrical bits a WD40 spray. Started up first time and even sounds better than it did before!

If anyone has met the bulk of man that is Mental you will understand when he says baps, the man means the bread type. Always thinking of food.

I am master of misdirection, look over there.

We are not falling out young Welshy, we are debating, I think farlsy is an idiot he thinks I am one. We are just talking about who is the bigger idiot.

Not being a mechanical type feel free to ignore me, but if you're having trouble starting your car then it might be an electrical problem. Recently I was having a similar complaint and a quick visit to the garage fixed the problem with my wallet's weighing too much. Anyway, so I'm told, there's a sensor which checks if it's safe to start your car (something todo with the drive shaft). If it thinks there's a problem it will prevent the engine starting (it still turned over but no vroom vroom). Of course this probelm came and went, and I was convinced it was when the car was parked up on the curb. Whatever they did worked, and it's been fine ever since so it might be worth checking out.

Well done Becky, you're now far more qualified than the spotty oiks who do oil changes at garages for £6 and hour but where you get charged £30 an hour :D !

Started up first time again this morning and it'd been raining all night, so thanks folks, TM comes up trumps again :D

Oh, MagicBell it's easy, if I can do it I'm sure that you can too. The distributor cap is the round thing at the side of the engine with 4 wires comming out of it and one bigger one going in. Mine was just held on by a couple of screws, undo these and it'll come off. Cleaned the inside and anything else in there that looked like it wanted a clean followed by a little bit of WD40 over it all. Popped that back on and then gave all the electrical looking bits a WD40 spray and it worked a treat. :D

Aren't I the expert now!
