Coming from York you should be ashamed. Worksop is a real village/town on the outskirts of Sheffield going towards the A1 and Nottingham. Worksop was chosen as the setting because, as most learned people will tell you, Robin Hood actually came from Sheffield. Back "in the day" Sherwood forest stretched from Nottingham to Sheffield. Loxley (as in Robin of Loxley) is an area of Sheffield (once it would have been a seperate little village) and Little John is buried in Hathersage, another village on the outskirts of Sheffield (this time over the border in Derbyshire).

So now you know - Worksop real, Robin hood Sheffield.
