How about a badly done ACR?

Now, now, Duplicity, he asked a civil question. (Although I liked your answer!)

What sort of magic are you into, Escaping, and what sort of difficulty level are you looking for? There's all kinds of bizarre and disturbing tricks out there.

Most mentalism book will give you tricks that can be presented in suitably creepy ways. Or else Blackhart is pretty much all bizarre magic of some sort if you just want a stocker of tricks.

Do you mean 'weird and disturbing' in a 'gross, freaky' way, or in a 'spooky unsettling' way?

If it's the former, then Lawrence's suggestion might be a good one (not read the book, though). There's also a branch known as 'geek magic', which might suit your needs. It's stuff like eating worms and chewing glass. Tomas Medina did a DVD on the subject, simply called 'Geek Magic'. I haven't seen it, but I think people say good things.

There's also some stuff put out by Marvin's Magic that's supposed to be freaky body illusions and gross magic. Again, I have no idea of the quality.

If it's that latter, try Black Hart's products, as Jobasha said. They're a nice way to break into the field (and equally good for anyone experienced in the area). Judging from your introduction, I'd steer clear of picking up mentalism tomes just for this.

To follow up on this. The Tomas Medina DVD is a good one with regards to geek stuff, i have seen it, and while it's not something i ever perform it is quite nice, if you like that kind of thing!
The Firmin book was realeased to the general public rather than aimed solely at magicians and due to this may not be everyone's cup of tea. It does have some very nice stuff in there though, certainly for a little bit of "down the pub" magic!

Daemon Cordell is doing a show called Magick Macabre in Dublin next week, an 8 day stretch. I saw him 5 years ago and it was pretty spooky and gross and humorous at the same time. It actually got a lot of bad media because it was so disturbing. Anyway he's back now and this time he's backed by Wes Craven of Nightmare on Elm street fame. So if your looking for gross disturbing tricks I think this would be a good place to start. Google him to find his website, not to sure if there's much up about it.

Well alittle of both, but more on the spooky side.

Firstly, how any "trick" AFFECTS folks is not based on the EFFECT but rather your scripting and course of presentation. Granted, we now have a large element in magic in which the gross and seriously bizarre exists. If this is your flavor of choice I'd suggest you get involved with the folks at Shadow Digest, the Inner Circle of Bizarre Magick, the DragonSkull (http://www.dragonskull.co.uk/main_map.htm) pages in the UK and of course Rick Maue's Deceptions Unlimited as well as Doug Hugley's creations. There are others but you will readily find them by visiting any and all of these groups.

When it comes to existing resources I'd start with Eugene Burger, Rick Maue, Charles Cameron, Eugene Poinc, Larry White... you'll catch on as you get deeper into things.

Bear in mind, you don't have to do gross or macabre bits of business to puzzle and bemuse the mind of the typical human being; religious movements have been created from one simple trick, like the Center Tear and little else (outside a sound gift for using words). So I am forced to repeat that it is not the trick but how you use the technology.

You may also want to check out effects created by Andrew Mayne. He has lots of stuff that would fit the definiton of "Weird Things".
