Struggling with an effect? Any tips (without giving too much away!) you'd like to share?

The silver and gold pens I've used in the past (never used them on cards though) were always a bit tempremental. Unless they were brand new or stored properly the acrylic fibre tip would dry out and render the pen useless. Shaking them like a can of spray paint always helped but them the tip would become so saturated with ink it would leave a nice raised line.... which was then really bad news if you wanted it to dry quickly. I certainly wouldn't advise placing two cards together if one had gold/silver ink on it (unless you wanted to perform a foolproof DL)

On the plus side, they are really highly pigmented and will cover anything you write over - black, red, whatever...

Silver sharpies are available, as stated before. Great for writing on an absorbent surface but (like all paint pens) can be rubbed off from shiny sealed surfaces (like a deck of bikes).... even if you let it dry for a week!!

Of course there may have been huge strides forwards in metallic pens recently, but to be on the safe side I'd avoid them if you want to dodge the potential embarrassment of getting sticky, gold or silver ink all over the cards, specs' hands, etc...

My pens came today, free delivery from WHSmith

I'm not sure about them still.

Silver is looking nice... what's the drying time like? Any stickiness? Does it rub off easy?

It's as quick to dry, smooth and smudgeless as a black sharpie.

The only difference is that you have to store them nib down.

Fantastic, will get myself some at the weekend.

I take back everything I said..... nearly (the ones for card/photo album decoration are slow drying, sticky horrors unsuitable for card magic)

Sharpie wins again!

At less than two quid from WHSmith online with free postage, it's worth a punt. As I said, I'm still not sure.

Their website is chaff and the search engine doesn't work, but the product link is:
