The Boris Wild Marked Deck

Postby ddathan » Oct 30th, '08, 17:10

Hi there

I just wandered whether anyone has any thoughts and advice on this product. I am undecided whether to buy it and would appreciate any tips.

Thanks!

I don't own this deck, but I have this book which details how it works...

...and it is excellent.

Bear in mind that the markings on the Wild deck allow you to do things that you can't really do with other marked decks. So it is good in that respect.

Thanks for the replies.

Is it worth £15 though? That's a lot of money to spend on a deck of cards.

In my opinion, yes. Very much so. But I use my marked decks a lot. I have the Ultimate deck and the Fournier marked deck both of which I use all the time. Have a good look at the links that were posted above and decide for yourself if it's worth it for you. I paid £17 for my Ultimate deck and £8 for the Fournier but I get a lot of use from them so for me it's worth it.

A marked deck is the greatest of all gimmicked decks because it can be used as a normal deck and the marks utilised when it suits you. It can be shuffled by a spectator, it can be examined, it can be used exactly as you would use a normal deck but a spectator will never suspect a thing. Can you say the same for any other gimmicked deck? Probably not.

Do not underestimate the power of a marked deck.

I used to stock Boris Wild marked decks, and they're very good. They are worth £15, as I used to sell them for £20, although this was because they are expensive to stock, and I didn't want to sell them. I still have a deck in my case. Boris Wild never uses anything but a marked deck.

I have(had) it and it is great it's easy to use and easy to learn. For 15 pounds I'd say it's a fair price. I actually got it as a xmas present and lost it when I accidentally confused it during a stage performance for a manipulation deck and I could never find all the cards again.

But as for money worth it's rather good. The marks are good and aren't as visible as some of the other cards that have them.

So yes they are good. Yes, they are worth the money.

Barton: Have you read the Bible, Pete?
Pete: Holy Bible?
Barton: Yeah.
Pete: Yeah, I think so. Anyway, I've heard about it.

For mentalists, Sean Taylor's Symbology deck is marked with the Wild system.

I've mentioned in another post (http://www.talkmagic.co.uk/ftopic17988-0-asc-15.php) that Boris Wild has just released a new marked deck. The Gamblers deck is marked (using a different system to the normal Boris Wild deck) it is also stacked a one way deck and it is stripped. I can't find a UK online supplier yet (I bought it when I attended a Boris Wild lecture recently) but there is a link to a US site in the other thread.

I agree with all that has been said before about this deck. I bought the deck together with the DVD in which Boris explains how to construct your own marked deck as per his system. All is supplied. I don´t think anyone has mentioned that there is no question of reading marks as on any other deck. The markings do not have to be interpreted in the usual way. They are really straight forward. They jump out at you. When it was first demosntrated to me by Boris I was amazed at the bold markings. Worth using as an ordinary deck, as has been said, and be available for outs and such like occassions.
Good value.
