Off the table false riffle shuffle

Postby Flood » Nov 26th, '08, 18:32

The shuffle im reffering to is the one thats found on page 76 of Expert Card Technique

I've been working on it for a while and cannot really make it look natural. To be honest im not quite sure what it is supposed to look like exactly. Is there anyone on the forum who can do it and if so can they post a video of what it looks like.

Maybe its just not a plausible looking shuffle because for some reason i think its hard to do a legitimate shuffle that immitates the false one.

thanks in advance

I haven't had a look at it, but there are two in the hands false riffle shuffles I can recommend.

Firstly, the Heinstein Shuffle by Karl Hein. It's basically an in the hands Zarrow which is pretty tough to get the hang of!

Secondly, the Lennart Green shuffle which I can't remember the name of. Very convincing but quite cheeky.

I can do an off the table riffle shuffle naturally. You just have to keep doing it for awhile until it feels natural to you, also find someone who can show it to you slowly so you can see exactly what to do.

Invoke not reason. In the end it is too small a deity.

I think Bill Malone teaches a cheeky riffle shuffle in the hands on his Here I go again DVD set.

My preference is to use the riffle shuffle taught on Guy Hollingworth's Routines video. It's an in the hands waterfall shuffle which is identical to the one taught on Oz Pearlman's Emerge Triumphant download video.

It's quite easy todo and looks so convincing. It's how I normally shuffle and cut in the hands anyway.

thanks everyone for the prompt replies as usual.i have the whole on the loose series and dont really like that riffle shuffle thought on it although its completely deceptive in Bills hands (what isnt?).ive also been doing the guy hollingworth shuffle for the past 2 years and am i great fan of it.I do however think it has the drawback of having to be ''stripped''.Its because with strip outs i think that you can only be 99% accuarate with the odd cards staying that 1% of the time.

Look in a mirror doing a normal riffle shuffle. There's your answer ;)

Ah, now I understand a bit better. It's true that you can miss with Guy Hollingworth's in the hands riffle shuffle, usually when you're using a new deck since the cards tend to slip a bit more. However I still prefer it because I naturally shuffle like that, and I can make it false whenever I choose.

What about something like this. It's very close to the Green shuffle, only I couldn't find a video of that one.

Is that the sort of thing you're looking for?

from past troubled practices of false shuffles, my advice would be to get comfortable with the cards by doing a true riffle and only then move to a false shuffle, rather than work on the false shuffle from the get go. This has the advantage of breaking in the cards first too!

TRuffle shudffle looks to be almost identical to the Grey Shuffle on Benjamin Earl's Past Midnight DVD set. Which is itself derived from the Green Shuffle from what I can gather, althogh I have never seen the Green Shuffle in action.

I just strip the packets out as I waterfall. In other words - as I waterfall I keep a tight hold on the two packets and spring them apart from each other rather than together. Then I reassemble the packets.
This is simple, makes a similar noise and despite being incredibly bold I always get away with it. I do give the packets a little more cover than ususal however, by making sure that the fingernails are pointing towards the spec's eyes.

I like this because I can 'real' shuffle right up until the last minute. For example - if I'm trying to control a stock and I make a mistake, I can go 'false' at the last moment.
