Since I'm off to see t'family in the morning and will likely have limited internet access, let me be the first to say Merry Christmas to everybody, and I hope Santa gives you what you want

Aye, merry Chrimbo to you all. We have hordes of family arriving from tomorrow (Christmas Eve) onwards so I may be missing for a few days.

Hope Santa brings everyone what they want.

Merry Pre-Birthday-Warmup to everyone...
(And Merry Christmas to those that don't see the 26th as my birthday, the more important event of the two...)

Happy birthday!

My father's birthday was 30 December. He got fed up with being palmed off with one lot of presents per year, so when he was about ten he declared 30 June was his official birthday. Maybe you could try that.

Already been done in the past for many years. I now just try to enjoy myself a bit more than others at birthday parties instead of throwing one myself through the year. A fair bit cheaper that way.

As for the one-lot-of-presents, my sister and I tried to keep everyone fair by comparing the relative perceived values of gifts. If my total haul for the Christmas period was at least 2/3rds more valuable than hers, then we'd both be happy.
On her own birthday, she had big gifts, but combining the two present times she would end up with a lot more than me. People kept thinking "Well, DK had a large present on HIS birthday..." completely ignoring the minor fact that they did a combined Xmas/Birthday gift.
