Who suffered CUPS in the run up to Christmas???

Postby Jordan C » Dec 29th, '08, 21:42

I know I did,

Torch to Rose - Why oh why would I want this when it doesn't suit my style!!!???

Cheap chop cup with balls - with a chop cup that didn't work as it should!!!

5 yogi loops instead of buying mesiakals (sp?) full package

Stupid fire from hands powder that's pretty rubbish really - damn my pyro desires!!!

Card on ceiling - when i got it I thought, Bloody hell I knew this already!!!

It hit me after Christmas was over. I spent about £80 on Dan & Dave, MagicBox and Lybrary.com. I also got comedy CUPS and bought every single Richard Herring DVD off his publisher's website. Eff the credit crunch, I say!

Far too much. I spent well over £200 on Christmas day o_O

Just books, but a lot of them. Mainly buying a decent paper-and-cardboard version of Tarbell to inhale.

Sadly all my money was allocated to my six year old son for his mountain of Xmas gifts. He then turned to me at 3:58 on Boxing Day and said ' Daddy im bored '.

He knows the value of money now i can tell you. And he appreciates his Father's efforts and will continue to do so. Bless him.

Im going to hit it hard in the New Year though. Oh yes.

I was a good boy and didn't suffer CUPS at all on account of how the tax man said he wanted all my money. Then, yesterday, I re-did the Hard Sums involved and it suddenly struck me that I'd already paid him most of what's owed. After a long time on the phone to a very patient lady at the tax office having it all confirmed, I placed a HUGE order with rapid Electronics. My creature will live!

I might also get around to publishing some circuits for objects gaffed with electronics before the year's out. It's not CUPS, it's research. Honest!

I had mild CUPS in the run up to Christmas. My curiosity about Easy Reading finally got the better of me, along with the lovely and fairly inexpensive A Few Good Cards.

Lybrary decided to publish Dai Vernon's Card Secrets trilogy, which was totally unfair of them. Also, the trouble with getting books on magic for Christmas is that you end up buying more stuff to cover the effects therein. So I have six Piatnik decks coming...

Went bonkers in the run up to xmas.... I'm gonna regret it when the bills start plopping through the door come January.... but what the heck, it's worth it for that brief magic high you get the second you've clicked on the 'pay now' button!! (why did nobody mention magic is like crack?!)

A brief list (I'm too scared to hunt out all the receipts...)
Approaching Magic: David Regal (man, that's a big book!)
Twister dvd: Stephen Tucker
Whiplash dvd: Stephen Tucker
Omega: Stephen Tucker
Methods in Magic dvd: Joshua Jay
Complete Magic course: Joshua Jay
20th Century Silks
Half Dollar and 10p flippers
Crystal Tube
Reality is Plastic: Anthony Jacquin
Miraculous Penetration... (so miraculous I can't get the **** thing apart!)
Sponge ball to Square
Sponge 'Big Red Hand'
Telic Wand
Hua Hin dice (lovely, lovely thing....)
Impuzzabilities and Further Impuzzabilities: Jim Steinmeyer (bemuda triangle mystery has become my fave party trick)
D'lite morphs (for nicking lights from xmas trees in shops...)
Squaring the Circle trick (a cheap and cheerful little gag)
Director's Cut: Simon Shaw
Reel Magic vol 8: 'Cos it's got David Williamson in it..
Mouth coils
Worlds Best Finger Ring Magic dvd
Rattle Box
Wonder Silk Box
Solo: Mark Mason
Devils Picturebook dvd: Derren Brown

Thankfully that's all my mind has allowed me to remember and of course there's far to much magic to take in all at once.... but that's the whole fun of having an unhealthy compulsion disorder (right... off to buy a snowboard now!!!)

Four of those things together cost $100 alone.

Barton: Have you read the Bible, Pete?
Pete: Holy Bible?
Barton: Yeah.
Pete: Yeah, I think so. Anyway, I've heard about it.

Managed to withhold myself from the cravings of CUPS, thanks to an Amazon wishlist full of stuff from a vaguely helpful magic shop.

That said, I'm tempted to get the Devil's Picturebook...
