I don't object to NWS but I just don't think they work I don't think people can be bothered or have the time to apply them properley. Our area has a NWS and I have never heard anything or any results come from it apart from the odd advertisment in our monthly village book we get delivered. Something I have learned about 85% of the population is they will agree things but won't actually apply themselves %100 unless there is some sort of incentive for them, to me it's a shame our nation has come to this but I truly believe that past royals and governments have acted so bad and arrogantly which has ended up with most of the population following suit but of course there are a few good citezens left which I'm glad to see. Sorry I didn't start out intending to rant but it just wen't that way but to finish on a good note I think NWS good be good if more neibours were willing to put heart and soul into these things. I believe there are some close nit communitys out there but I believe they are smaller villages and towns.

I remember seeing something on the TV where a guy was obviously sttealing a bicycle chained to a lamp post in some busy street in London. It was set up and filmed to get people's reactions.

He was attacking this chain with bolt cutters and at one point even managed to get a couple of passers by to help him. Not once did anyone question what he was doing.

I noticed this fella put the letter through my door and then drive off. It's a pity he didn't have the balls to ring the doorbell and actually voice his views to my face, seeing as he obviously feels so strongly about it. I also noticed he neglected to put his name or address on the form; I know he lives on my road but not where.

Anyway, the conclusion I have come to is that he is nuttier than a bag of KP special roasted peanuts. Image

People like that generally don't knock on your door, or complain in shops. They go home and take their frustrations out on their family.

You will always get NW members who take everything to the nth degree by spying on their neighbours, or reporting littering, dogs that foul the pavement, suspicious people who walk too slow down their street etc. and such schemes lose their practicality rather quickly.

If you look at the practical aspects and don;t mind a little organisation then at the end of the day, NW scheme's have a good track record for displacing crime - not solving it. If you can move the problem off your street and into someone elses then problem solved.

Villans generally hate NW schemes, that's why insurance companies prefer you to live in one as it lessens their risk and yours.

Don't let a couple of people put you off.
