That's the second time I've done that today, I managed to delete the first one before anyone noticed.

It sounds like very useful advice anyway, I spent ages trying to figure out which MM effect it referred to!

:D well you never know, what with it being New Year and everything some TM members might like to know how to improve their front crawl.

And I'm sure it didn't confuse you as much as me suddenly going off about how I'd not seen any of the Masked Magician programmes and would have to try to catch one just to see how bad they are, managed to confuse everyone on the swim forum.

In the most recent episode aired yesterday (4/02/09), there was the Gecko! Personally, I'm not too fond of the revealing of magic tricks.

a sucker on a key chain
Yes, but which end was the biggest sucker on  ?

Mrs.M gave up on this one and went to make her sandwiches for work the following day, I stuck with it to the end (I'm a masochist at times) and all the big box things seemed so outrageously pointless that it probably doesn't make any difference about exposing them. I though the torn and restored thread was performed exceptionally badly (performing in gloves didn't help), there are far better and far less angle sensitive versions of it - Geoff Durham's variation is a real corker and well worth doing even if specs saw this show as you can show everything clean at the start unlike the MM version. I think I can see why this series is off the air in the US for a while so perhaps we'll get to see all 13 episodes before they get aired over there?

what i find interesting, is that there is still no reall indication as to who the present masked one is.I know Val isnt. I give him some credit, in that he knows how to move on stage. If you look at the older specials on youtube, you can spot him a mile away.

I suspect that the man in the mask, may be one of Chris Angels assistants, who has a couple of videos on Youtube.
hes very wooden, rather stocky, and about the right height.
If i can find the videos, ill post a link at some time. :)

then there was the rumour that its John Pyka,( aka big daddy cool) I dont think it's him. ( at least i hope not.. i like John)

I gather the rumour was started by John himself over at the cafe.

MM's body double moves with more grace than MM himself! I noticed on Teletext letters recently that one or two 'correspondents' were commenting adversely on the sexist remarks about the assistants in the voiceovers. They've become so boring and predictable I tend to turn the sound down :D .

thats because the double, is either Val, or one of the male assistants, who acording to I.M.D.B, Have been on stage assistants to a couple of the big boys in Vegas.

Aha! Danny is a dancer, so that's why he looks far more graceful - if it's him. was wondering if Val was also doubling but he's a little shorter than the doubles seen so far, at least, I think he is - it's ages since I watched the old shows! It's probably a bit like Stig in Top Gear, almost anyone could be in the mask and only those on the show would know. Very reminiscent of that episode of Jonathan Creek with the skeleton costume and the locked garage!

They did the walking on water last night, it seems as though they're taking pot shots at criss angel because they expose a lot of stuff that criss angel has performed on his show and also the voice over says stuff like "thats hardly freaking your mind" and makes other references to him and his show.
I laughed when they did the twister illusion and he said "that's her hand, but that can't be her body" I don't think this is going to harm magicians that much because some of the ways he exposes it are so ridiculous and impractical most people would probably think thats not the real way you would do it

Yeah, they pretty blatantly referenced him in the breathing underwater bit too. This run seems to be all about mocking magic, sadly

Not that I've watched any of it, of course...

the walking on water stunt was just a silly thing.
I still get annoyed at the historical inaccuracy rather than most of the exposure. I hate them saying ... this dates back from the time of Houdini.. when it doesn't.

and when they said that the miss made girl was over 100 years old!!!!

that version had some merits, but it cant be more that 20 years old at best.

what im finding annoying on the exposure front, is the smaller, and new stuff. like, self tying shoe laces, the die tube, etc.. this stuff is the bread and butter of so many guys.

It'll make a change from lines of the stuff glued to their nostrils :D !

Out of all the MM programmes, this was the weakest, the soda can was so wobbly and obvious Mrs.M sussed it straight away and she also correctly guessed the buzz saw, the disappearing quartet (that must have been made up specially for the programme!) and the Bentley/Lamborghini 'only for TV' effect. She also quite rightly said that the Wall of China/Containers' effect was far too drawn out and ultimately very unimpressive! The cut and restored rope was very poor as there are better methods than that which allow both hands to be shown empty at the start so perhaps it's good that they only showed the more basic method. On this basis, I'd guess most muggles who decided to watch will have fallen asleep after about 15 minutes!
