My car was broken into :-(

Why are there such horrible people in this world???

I was at the petrol station last night, filled up, took a £20 note and went to pay. I was stood in the queue waiting to pay when I heard a smash, looked out of the window and saw a lad in a hoodie pulling my hand bag through my now broken passenger window and dissapear off down the road.

It was quite late so there wasn't many people around and his face was covered by the hoodie so the CCTV didn't get anything useful which means the chances of catching him are pretty much 0.

That bag had my purse in it with all my cards, my phone, house keys (which now means I'll have to change all the locks), some make up (not that it'll be any use to him but it cost a lot of money) and my diary which has all my bookings for the year in. Luckily I only do a couple of gigs a month and I keep the contact details for everyone I do gigs for in my address book at home so it shouldn't be to difficult to ring around and get the details back.

But what a horrible thing to happen, I can't believe that someone would do that with me only a few yards away in the shop. I was really upset by it and felt quite shaken up, still not feeling all too happy today.

It's strange isn't it, but it's the little things that really upset me the most. My keyring which had a photo of my old dog and the bar of chocolate that we were going to eat in front of a film that I was most upset about loosing.

Feeling very :( and sorry for myself today.

:(

Your reality, sir, is lies and balderdash, and I'm delighted to say that I have no grasp of it whatsoever.

It is a nasty world we live in today and a very upsetting thing to happen to you Lady of Mystery. I think you should take this bad experiance and take a lesson from it to never leave your bag in the car silver lining and all, not a very good one. One day he have his comuppenance from someone.

I know I was silly to leave my bag in the car, but really didn't think anything of it. I'd only be gone about 5 minutes and it's a petrol station in the middle of nowhere, it's not something that you'd expect to happen. Lesson learnt and I wont be doing it again.

A big huggle for you from me.

I had my car broken into a few years back and although they only nicked the stereo - I felt really gutted / sick.

My car was also broken into a few weeks ago, so I know how you feel. Mind you, they didn't steal anything because I never leave valuables in my car. But they did leave the contents of my glove compartment stacked up very neatly on the passenger seat, which struck me as most odd. I suppose even thieves can be tidy.

It's always terrible when something you own is destroyed or stolen, but items that have sentimental value can not be repurchased.
Sending you a big hug in attachment.
It's also sad to see the pink and fluffy LOMster so blue.
(Doesn't that make her purple?)

That's really sh*t Lommy, so sorry to hear that. It's hard to get your head round isn't it, what part of these people's brains must be missing for them not to understand or care about upsetting others in the same way we do.

And when it's something as personal as a handbag... when I've had stuff stolen in the past it's usually been electronics, and you can kind of be like "well, it's only stuff, it's a good lesson not to get to materialistic", but I can imagine for a girl a handbag with their day to day necessities, full of personal things that have sentimental value purely because of their regular use... plus damaging your car...

Was there anyone else at the petrol station btw?

Sorry to hear that Lady of Mystery

I always wonder how these people would feel if it happened to them or one of their family, but the truth is they probably don't think at all!

Thanks for all the kind words and hugs everyone, it's totally appreciated. :D

I'm feeling a bit better now, the RAC man's been and fixed the window but I've going to have to give the car a good hoover out as there's still broken glass all over the passenger seat.

The police phoned but they said that the CCTV didn't really show enough detail so there's not much chance of them catching the guy.

Oh well it's only things and things can be replaced can't they.
