A great shame, but he'll live on in our memories. Somewhere, I still have two books on drawing that he wrote. Part of my enthusiasm for art defiitely came from him, and my mother encouraged that.
In spite of that, I don't think I ever sent a picture in to the Gallery. I seem to recall that I thought that, if I liked a picture enough to submit it, I didn't want to lose it (they always said that they couldn't return the art that was sent in).
While most people are respectful when a celebrity passes, you often get the odd snide comment posted on message boards and forums. I wonder if anyone could possibly have a bad word to say about Tony. He must have inspired two generations or budding artists, and always came across as both talented and kind.
