ICEshot - Second shot

Postby gunnarkr » Jan 30th, '09, 02:36

This is a good friend of mine, he throws the 2nd card from the top.
He came up with this way of doing 2nd shot himself. Is there anything like this around? Please comment.

I've never seen a second shot before, looks very impressive! I have seen it done from the centre of the deck though, I believe it is taught on a DVD somewhere but I forget the name. There is a video of someone doing it but I don't know how real it is.

Looks good, I've not seen that move before would be nice in an ambitious card routine.

Nice!

From a technical standpoint, it's very impressive, but I'm failing to see the magic of it.

This particular demonstration makes no attempt to hide what you're doing. The card is coming from somewhere in the deck. Whether it's the top, second, 30th, etc. The card can be seen coming from the deck, the motions and the get ready let the viewer know what is going to happen before the move begins.

To me, it's coming off as more a display of skill, rather than a magical moment. Perhaps that is the intention, and if so - it has achieved that in spades. However, if it's meant to seem "magical", like Lennart's color change using the top shot, then it is slightly off the mark.

Can I be the first to criticize the most telegraphed pass ever made?

You can, but you would be wrong - Lenoir - for you have never seen my miserable excuse for a pass!

Can I be the first to criticise not only an Englishman using an American spelling of criticize but also the extreme overuse of the word telegraph in relation the pass? :P

Haha, I re-watched the video to see what you were on about and I have to agree. I hate those tip back, tip forward passes like your wrists have suddenly been posessed by a child's coin-operated Disney spaceship ride outside a Wal-Mart.

Still, I can't even do a top shot properly, nevermind this bit of wonderment, so hats off to the Viking for that.
