I'm not a big fan of describing myself but here's a little go at it. A few years back i was really interested in doing magic tricks and i bought me a book and some gimmicks. These kept me (and my friends) busy for quite some time. The use of gimmicks can be fun but it kinda got on a sidetrack because the lack of i don't know what exactly.

Now i have always been very interested in how people act the way they do and their behavior tho i never made a link or was aware theres such a thing as mentalism and thought this was limited to psychology only. until recently a friend of mine showed me a mentalist at work and i was absolutely amazed by this man. So i wanted to know more. Now i allready bought some books and did a fair bit of reading but i still am in my babyshoes and I'm hoping to find some good information on this site. Any tips on good reading material is very welcome.

I will probably have alot of questions as my experience grows and hopefully intime i can make some contributions to this site.

End of ramblings and a good day to all.

Psychological Subtleties 1 & 2 by Banachek.

I have only read the first one (Which is great) but I have heard some great things about the second one too.

Have a little read of our own, Craig Browning's post of Becoming a Mentalist, he's a good guy and does really know what he's talking about.

As for reading material, Karl Fulves Self Working Mental Magic is a great book followed by Thirteen Steps in Mentalism and Practical Mental Magic.

As I've said before though it's well worth looking into the basics of other forms of magic such as cards and coins because the sleights can be very useful in mentalism.
