Hi everybody,

all that ordered Metamorphosis and are still waiting for their effect: it will arrive very soon. My Dell laptop broke directly before Blackpool (14.02.) and even if I have a Pro Business Support with a reaction (and fixing) time of 24 hrs, they were not able to fix it until this wednesday. Seeing all open orders without the possibility to send them out immediately really killed me. Now I work through the pile of emails and try to send all out within the next days, part of it is already out.

Sorry for the delay.

I think I do not give away a secret if I tell you that you get 24 butterflies with the Pro version and with every Refill. Please, do me a favour (and it is not because of the money!!!) don´t take back the butterfly but leave it with the spectator.

A good advice that works well for me: take out a business card afterwards, stick the butterfly onto it and hand it to the spectator. As you got the special cards from your great grandfather, this special card (your business card) is given to the spectator. I can not imagine a better way of handing out your business card, with the butterfly on it really gets special.

BTW to the history of this effect: the basis idea (Standard version) is already out for a much longer time period, first with kids style drawing and not in the old style. But then it was only a "packet trick for kids". Several magicians told me that I should add the butterfly to the hand but I never wanted to copy Jim Pace´s trick idea. Finally, around last november, I gave in and came to the perfect idea of using these die-cuts. In Germany is a great tradition to collect these scraps. So if you perform this trick to a mid-aged person it makes it sooo much stronger here, as the butterfly brings them back childhood memories. Really sad that this works best in Germany, but all the reactions are really positive.

The Web is good if you like to shock, but I already heared of one performer who did the Web to an Ex-Arachnophobia guy and his performance brought him back the fears! So this trick really has to be done with care.

In Blackpool I was able to perform the effect to Jeff McBride and David Blaine and they both liked it very much. David suggested to place the butterfly onto the knuckle so that the butterfly will stand up in 3D when the hand is turned over. But hitting the right spot will be extremely difficult and can only be done if you repeat this trick often enough for the camera ;). I am open for any performance ideas.

Two friends helped me at my stand in Blackpool, everyone performed this trick in his own personal style, one was very funny, the other romantic. My own revelation of the butterfly changed also. So great variations are possible.

A friend, an artist in painting and sculpturing, is just writing a book about the german inventor of the 12 colour system. Do not ask me what exactly it is, but the guy invented the colors for the anthroposiphy. My friend gave butterflies an own chapter and calls them creatures of light and I liked the idea. So when I perform it and show the empty card I tell them about the creatures of light. They are so lightweighted that even if they touch you (I touch them gently with my finger) you cannot feel it. I ask him to copy my moves. I hold out both hands, palm up. I blow gently on my palms and then, in slow motion, I turn over the hands together with the spectator. This gave me so far the best reactions. I hope you like the idea.

Postby Magico » Mar 12th, '09, 16:02

Hmm !

Great piece of artful magic at its best !!!
But i disagree with sleight of hand as being - 1.

Its difficulty is a - 2.

Rating 8.5/10
Was thinking of a 9 but cards get sticky and tacky and you need preparation ,but yet again all magic needs preparation ?.

Great effect a must have !!! :D

Thanks
Christian

I agree with difficulty level 2.

Sometimes we forget how hard we tried to do a convincable Elmsley Count. Now doing the count without any problems we would rate a trick using this move too easy. (No, Metamorphosis does not use an Elmsley.)

I tried to keep it as simple as possible, the rest is practice.
