Bah ........... I was gonna put that :? .

QUESTION:
If we can sue McDonalds for making us fat and cigarette companies for giving us cancer; why can't we sue Smirnoff for all the ugly gits we've sh*gged ??

Bad jokes.

No, too hard. Can't do it.

As a non-religious person, I don't see the need to give up something. But if I have to, then I shall give up buying magic books and DVDs. I have to start saving up for a change of address, and I have more than enough stuff to use at the moment anyway.

(Sadly, I fear if Lent has already started then I have already broken it, with an order of Dominatricks a few nights ago and some more nails from B&Q for the human blockhead. Pesky spectators wanting to keep the nail because "everyone else doing that gives the nail away"...)

I never particularly noticed it was Lent. As a non-Christian, I don't do things for Lent anyway.

If you want to improve your life by giving something up or doing something extra, any time of year is as good as any other.

Did you know that Lent has its origins in pre-Christian agriculture? By February, food harvested and meat salted the previous year would be going bad. The idea was to use up the stuff that was becoming inedible. Interestingly, though you'd expect winter to be a time of famine, it was in fact July - just before the main harvests - when most people died from hunger. Christianity simply wove itself into the traditional rhythm of the agricultural year.

yeah - same with christmas wasnt it - it was a time for feasting, drinking, gift giving and fornication to while away the cold long evenings...

sounds nice eh...

then jolly old religion came along and suddenly said it was jebus day instead  and hijacked it all...

i'd like to think that jesus and father christmas battled it out over who owned what day, with some sticks and nettles...
