Glad that I never bought a spider pen - one of the few occasions when CUPS didn't work

I'll wait to read a few reviews and perhaps see one in action before making my mind up. I like IT but I can never quite capture the atmosphere that you see in the promo video's so I've always made od with a good old ITR when working in IT.

I notice no-one seems to say *where* they are getting it from at such a good price. Is that not the done thing on here?

I thought the best deal I could see was an American place on Ebay - £58ish inc delivery to UK and includes 100' of IT and an additional Super Micro 2000 (which seems to be an ITR - apparently worth about $30).

This seems great to me or am I missing something? I am still fairly new to all of this (he says, 18 months on!) and wonder if Ebay imports make alarm bells ring for you lot?

I am waiting to see if its all hype or not as we all know the method and I cant see what major difference this item has.

I'm no thread guy BUT... I love it!

It finally showed up this afternoon in the post and I found myself both, elated and laughing through the entire video. Elated as the result of it's clever simplicity and laughing at both, myself and a few other (for different reasons)... the latter of who were putting forth theories as to how this and that happen when they hadn't a genuine clue, just a guess.

The gimmick is hidden in plain sight and easily stolen or ditched. It comes of 50ish feet of IT and some great lessons on field stripping & repair. It is ultra sensitive when it comes to letting thread out and it may take some getting used to when it comes to wearing it securely without triggering the take up motor.

NOW HEARS THE REAL KICKER... Part of the handling is based on a Steve Fearson idea as well as "inspiration" coming from two other noted sources (whose names elude my at the moment)

I've obviously not had the chance to work with it as of yet, but my imagination is in overdrive when it comes to the many ways of exploiting this tool. If you are a PK worker, this needs to be in your kit.

What seems to be a contradiction in your message (I mean this light-heartedly!) is:

I'm no thread guy

followed by

It is ultra sensitive when it comes to letting thread out and it may take some getting used to when it comes to wearing it securely without triggering the take up motor.

Ha! That doesn't sound like a "no thread guy" talking. I mean I'm no musician but the use of polyrhythmic glissandi in that Ligeti piano étude I heard today really got me thinking...

I'm being facetious. My point is this...you clearly have some experience in these matters or have picked up the lingo very quickly. I really am a no thread guy in that I only do card magic plus a few other prop-based bits (cap through bottle, word in a million, etc.). Hard to answer without knowing me personally, I know, but what do you reckon to the chances of a complete IT novice being able to handle something like this?

Yigil gives great guidance making it relatively easy to learn but I'd actually suggest those new to thread work to pick up his DVD on actual IT work, featuring Finn Jon the heralded Master of said field.

I personally hate IT in that I'm all thumbs and just don't have the knack at handling the stuff in a graceful manner that don't result in a break. When I do get it to work right I downright amaze myself

On certain levels a bit disappointed with the one routine that probably got 90% of us to buy it; a hook-up that is heavily based on a Fearson idea. On the other hand, the micro-technology and other creative facets of the device allow me to say that it is a fair quality product most are going to enjoy.

I'm going to preorder Fearson's new one as well right now. it should be due on 15th of April and can’t wait. so all of this business is that it was originally Fearson's hook up. I can’t wait to see what Fearson’s one looks like as I think it looks better than Tarantula. I think it looks cleaner than Tarantula as well.
One more thing Craig, is this Tarantula better than spider pen?
Cheers

I don't do a great deal of IT work, but I'm very fond of Jon LeClair's Animator method. It works a treat.

These have been in stock since Monday, & I LOVE IT!!

I love thread work anyway.

I prefer this to the spider pen.

You could also use this for "Lite Flite" without the wax under the nail!

Best Wishes

Mike

Interesting!! Lite Flight was one of the first effects I bought but the hook was too much for back then as a newbie to magic never mind IT. But somehow it has sat there never wanting to be sold or given away andnow it looks like it may reappear!! ;l)

That wouldn't be the ring float by any chance?
The demo of that is making me mighty tempted to make a purchase but a part of me is thinking it looks too good to be true. Any thoughts?

BINGO!

It's simple, logical once you see it (and kick yourself a few times) but camera perspective tells us things that aren't totally true... kind of like a lawyer or salesman.
