Comedy one ahead effect...?

Postby Gagsy » Mar 11th, '09, 21:18

I'm looking for a comedy mental effect wherein the Magi attempts to read an audience members mind, and immediatly writes this down on a large pad, but when he asks for the volenteers word he realises that he is wrong and so tears the page out, crumples it up and tosses it to the floor. He repeats this twice more, each time seemingly getting it wrong, until eventually he picks up all three pieces from the floor to prove that he had them all right after all....

I'm looking for the name of the effect and where/when/if it was published and where I can obtain a copy...

Thanks for your help...

As it seems you already know the method for this then I can't see why you need to buy instructions. The comedy for a routine like this should really be your own. I've seen plenty of people use the method of throwing on the floor after pretending to mess up. In most cases they've given the game away as it hasn't been believable that they have actually messed up. Also in almost all cases the routines have involved playing cards, which I have a personal dislike for. The use of playing cards in these routines screams force.

I wouldn't use a playing card force for this, there are plenty of pretty solid psychological forces that work better.

If you know the method then go ahead and put together the routine, I don't really think that there's much else anyone can tell you. If you don't know the method then have a look in Karl Fulves Self Working Mental Magic, Mark Wilson, Corinda or Annemann, they've all got the method in them.
