That's a toughie. Skerries contains a good selection of effects and, as a non-cardie, it appeals more because there are no card tricks in it! Plots, Spells & Typos would run a very close second again for the variety of effetcs contained, small stuff and stage stuff.

It's very interesting to see reviews like this - to find out what seems popular, and what gets overlooked, and so on. :)

Just a small addition: I'm frequently asked if the leather cone for the "Conic Relief" routine can be obtained anywhere. I did mine myself - not difficult, just a bit messy. But these cones seem to get quite good reviews:

I've just released a new ebook titled "Fuzzy Logic" at http://shop.tomstone.se

It consist of 100% padding, and is rather badly illustrated, but I've noticed that some people seem to enjoy stuff like that anyway.
If anyone wants to review it, just let me know, and I'll provide a review copy.

I've made a mistake in the manuscript.
In "Wooden Sign" I refer an item by Jim Steinmeyer which I thought was published in Device and Illusion.

It was really published in his lecture notes, in the December 2002 issue of Magic, and in Conjuring Anthology.
Sorry.

I like the fact that there are all kinds of effects amongst his works...

I don't know if this is of interest, but I recently released a new one, titled "Moonshine Monologues". The main topic is new routines and effects for the old classic Multiplying Bottles.

Undecided as to invest in one of these two, anyone got one that can help me decide as to how the effects play? Tempted, and I have IAINs book to get first, so with the spare $15 which way do i go....... love the sound of what's in Gravel, not sure about value with the fewer effects in Deserting the Legion and I'm not drawn to ball production, but thinking of doing more book tests...... :? :? :? :? :?

Gravel
ESP Test, patterns for the cards are included, nice mentalist routine. Chairport, crafty routine whereby the performer predicts which chair a spec will choose, Almost Restored, Sharp Fingers, Drop Restoration, Whip Restoration, all ideas and routines for the rope workers, .Herbal Tear – magic with cigarettes even in a non-smoking environments, Synonymax, card routine using symbols instead of playing cards – again the patterns are included so you can print ‘em off., Coin Con Count – says it all! Negative SP, a card routine.

Deserting the Legion
Five ‘insubordinate’ pieces: Siamese Book test, Double Christ (extension to the Christ Force!), Occhamman Now!, signed card routine, Déjà vu Pen – easily constructed gimmick, Conic Relief - ball production. Different thinking and all good, workable ideas.

And it's out now! :)
Prey of the Prestidigitator contains card and close-up material, and has surprisingly little padding. For once, I'm quite happy with the result myself :)

Prey of the Prestidigitator carries on the excellent tradition of the Swedish ebooks. There are some wonderful routines in here, and although I've only had time to skim through it once this evening, there are a couple of things I am definitely adding to the 'to work on' list. The updated version of the Cylinder and Coins is wonderful.

It's also nice to see that Tom has started to publish work from his friends. The Sixten Beme routine looks like a lot of fun.

On a pedantic note, Tom, there's a typo on page 15 - your for you're.

I can heartlily recommend this ebook.

Take care, Ian
