I know you've already got the message, but if you buy the '13 Steps' you won't need to buy some of those other books.

Ted I don't think it will, not the books I've have just bought anyway. Maybe one day I will read 13 steps, maybe not.

I'm far from being a newbi in the business, still learing of course but aren't we all.

The 1 step I do own just seems I don't know a bit c*** (not the best).

I think the thing with 13 steps vs other material, is what they provide and what you need to add to the recipie to make something nice....

13 steps is basically a list of ingredients and you have to be creative in how you decide to use them....

The books you are reffering to Trist are more like recipie (why cant i spell recipie ??lol..) books in that they have taken the ingredients and tell you how to mix them together and what the final product should look like...

Well you'll all be happy to know that I've ordered 13 Steps, don't think I'll ever read it all though. Not my thing creating my own stuff is it? Haven't got a creative bone in my body so what good it will be to me I don't know?

Really thinking of selling up and getting rid of everything again Fairie, you can have first pickings on everything :(

13 Steps is a fantasic book and Snuffkins is dead right when she say's that it's a ingredients. I'll give you the building blocks for what they are, read it learn it and if you're anything like me you'll be getting at little light bulb above your head all the time as you see uses for all the ideas that are given to you.

Yes but what if you already know the building blocks?

Read Corinda and you might learn some more, or perhaps a new way to do something that you hadn't thought of before. It's always worth reading as much on a subject as possible because you never know when you might stumble across a little gem. And trust me, there are plenty of them in Corinda.

If you know those already then you can save an awful lot of money over the coming years.

Not sure why you would buy it if you're not going to bother reading it. :?

Even if you're not big on creating your own material, are you that certain you can't adapt and update what's in the book to fit your performance style? Spend a little time working with it. If nothing else, consider studying the 4-5 pages on cold reading and Step 13, along with the interview at the end.

Both 13 steps and PMM have turned out to be far deeper than I originally gave them credit for. You don't have to go and mark each step and effects you like with post-it notes like I have, although that may help you as well.

There's a lifetime of material in 13 Steps. It's one of the few books I own that I find myself referring back to time and again. It is far more valuable than it may at first appear.

13 Steps is a fantastic book that anyone with any interest in mentalism should read. It's written in a totally different way to Annemann and doesn't just had you everything on plate like some book will but the depth of information in there is huge.

Tristan, you say that you know the building blocks, but do you, do you really? There's always more out there to learn, an different view on an old technique that you've not thought of before. I've been through both Annemannn and Corinda and am currently reading both for a second time. Each has it's strengths and weaknesses but read both together and you've got a pretty sold foundation.

Well kinda Craig, no one here knows me so it's nice to be able to lol

Also I wanted to see what everyone thought on the subject and I'd had a really bad few days ready to sell up and get out again, just everything getting me down but things have perked up again, Craig I'll PM you as I need some advice on some interesting things that have cropped up (was going to see a doctor about them but he'd only give me cream for them again)

I wished someone had pointed me to 13 steps when I first started out would have saved me some time and effort with the c*** (not the best) I did buy, JR springs to mind!

I was lucky to get PMM quite early on which is a great book.

My stirring is done for nowm now kill this thread.

And Iann I like technique over effects :D PM me about me 3 envelope test
