That's a very important distinction. It's very easy to hear people talking negatively about magic and assume they are jerks. Actually they're just people. Not everyone likes the same sorts of stuff. I don't like Sci-Fi - it bores me - but I wouldn't like to be thought of as an evil beeotch by people who live for Star Wars and X Files and stuff.

I didn't base my opinion of these women on the fact that they don't like magic. I have several good friends who hate the art. I based it on the tone of their posts - there was a terrible snobbiness in some of them. And anyone who calls her fiance her h2b is someone I want to steer clear of.
As for the comment that there are plenty of good magicians doing the wedding circuit, I know that is true. But if magicians as a whole get a bad name because of the chancers, then the good guys will eventually be squeezed out too. They say a rising tide floats all boats. Similarly a falling tide will sink all boats, if you know what I mean.
It has to be a concern that so many brides dislike magic.

However if a wedding guests sees a great magician at one function & then a terrible one at another then the good one looks all the better & will be even more talked about.

I don't want to seem too optimistic but there's no point in being negative, they'll always be the bad ones putting in poor performances but that's what we have to better ourselves for.

I agree that those women come across as strong minded & ignorant & I'm sure that their H2B's would love to have a magician perform at the wedding. To me I see it as a challenge if I ever meet someone like this at a function I'm doing. Winning over the 'none-believers is all part of the fun.

come on peoples, just because they don't like magicians and don't want one at their wedding doesn't make them bad people. I hate cheesy discos and don't want one at my wedding, I want something more classy but I hope that doesn't make all the DJs out there start calling me a snob, it's just a personal taste.

H2B, that could just be terminology on that site, when I first started posting here, I thought that calling a spec, a spec was disrespectful. Spectator, audience member, volunteer would be better but it's just the terminology here.
